Disney's Frozen - Part 2

It's no contest, Elsa is the favorite and front and center in virtually all advertising. She's tragic and sympathetic at the same time, and her transformation in Let It Go makes her the beautiful princess (ok, she's actually a Queen by then).

Personally, I'm a bigger Anna fan. Spunky, fearless, determined and sweet. She makes her own decisions and follows through to the end. Also, I have a weakness for redheads, although Disney lists Anna as strawberry blond (way more strawberry than blond to me though).

Anna is the real heroine in the movie, and I say it even though I like Elsa a lot. However, I do agree that the combination of tragedy and sympathy, not to mention flawless beauty, have made Elsa the more popular of the two sisters.

well, I managed to find a used copy of the Wicked soundtrack. :woot:

the cover's a little dirty/yucky..........but............Defying Gravity!!

Glad to hear it! You should consider exploring the other songs on it, too. :cwink:

Agreed. If you like Defying Gravity, you'll love The Wizard and I, and No Good Deed on that recording.

of course.......:o

sometimes I do wonder if they could have combined both sisters into 1 character.

that is, take Elsa's character and design. and have her be lonely, isolated, and scared of her powers, but have her develop a quirky, eccentric, and surprisingly upbeat personality despite her circumstances. she talks to the pictures like Anna. she longs to be around people and see outside the palace. etc.

of course, they'd have to change the story and dynamics around, but.....could it have worked??

thanks!!

I just read about the story online. and it's interesting. it definitely turns the "traditional" story of Oz on its head.

kind of like how Frozen turned traditional fairy tale concepts on their heads.

I can't find the Frozen soundtrack anywhere, and I visited both Target and Walmart. I really miss the old music stores like Sam Goody and Tower Records. Looks like I'm just going to order it through Amazon.

I don't think the story would have worked if they combine Anna and Elsa into one character. The most important thing in Frozen is the love and bond between the two sisters, and how both sacrificed themselves in order to protect the other (Elsa through isolation, and Anna through the final act of courage). If they were made into one person, then they'd have to change the fundamental aspect of the story.

I saw this pic earlier today and it made me think of Elsa for some reason. Which of course brings me here:

oh, yeah, for sure, they'd have to change the entire story around.

and not saying it would have been better.....just an interesting thought process.

although I certainly wouldn't have minded Elsa with Anna's personality.......the best of both worlds!! :woot:

very Elsa like!!

if I didn't know it was from Game of Thrones, I would probably think it was a live action version of Elsa.

do you have a Best Buy near you?

but yeah.....Amazon's probably your best bet if you can't find it locally.

it's so totally worth it, though!!

I'm actually in the middle of editing a video listing reasons why its such a force of nature at the B.O. and that article already tops what I had to say haha.

5 Reasons Disney's Frozen is killing it at the theaters.

This is really quite a good list.

Very good list. If I have to add something to the article, I'd list Olaf as one of the reasons for its success. Frozen appeals to the girls with the brave princess Anna and her sister Elsa, the action-adventure part for the boys, and Olaf attacts the youngsters. My kids were bored watching Frozen until Olaf showed up, and the movie captured their attention the rest of the way. And he seems to have a very wide-range appeal across demographics as well. Frozen has so many layers within its apparent standard storyline, and that is why moviegoers would flock back to see it over and over. You need repeated customers if you want to cross that 800 million milestone.

thanks!!

I saw it on Broadway (with Idina and Kristin!) in the front row because I won the lottery for the rush seats. I've been going to Broadway shows since I was five, so I'm well-trained in audience theater etiquette....but when that ending happened, I actually said "NO. WAY!" out loud.

The rest of the audience had pretty much the same reaction, so it wasn't just me. :funny:

Great article, but I have to seriously disagree with that one paragraph at the end of #2:

However, as excellently described in TrilbeeReviews, Hans is actually a pretty good leader, and handles a myriad of situations rather heroically. Yes, he is following a selfish and deceitful agenda, but that makes him a crappy boyfriend, not diabolical.
And wanting to go to such great lengths to obtain the throne of Arendelle, like attempting to kill both Anna and Elsa, is not diabolical? :whatever:

Once again, TrilbeeReviews shows a severe lack of understanding about what he is talking about.

wow!! you were so lucky!!

in the end, Elphaba just fakes her own death and flies off with her Prince lover ( who she turned into Scarecrow? ). right?

I've seen this movie twice in theaters. I am so, so tempted to go to the sing-along screenings and force my friends who haven't seen the movie yet to go with me!

What I am most looking forward to, though, is the Blu-Ray. I believe Amazon said it would be released on March 18th or something? I can't wait! AH!

Frozen slipped to #2 in South Korea Friday, but it will be close for the weekend. It should be around 6 million admissions by Sunday (around $45m US)

Miss Granny (수상한 그녀) 536,551 (901 Screens/3687 Showtimes)
Frozen 447,056 994 (948/4324) - 4,808,673 total

Man in Love (남자가 사랑할 때) 105,357 (465/1435)
The Attorney (변호인) 91,387 (377/963)
Hot Young Bloods (피끓는 청춘) 90,492 (419/1417)
The Huntresses (조선미녀삼총사) 89,749 (373/1494)
The Nut Job 43,599 (364/930)
Police Story 2013 29,313 (250/525)
Inside Llewyn Davis 5,755 (64/136)
Dinotasia 2,356 (115/147)

Frozen is the only Hollywood movie in the top 5, the rest are local SK movies.
