Yes, Disney will be investing back into fairy tales in a big way after this, I imagine.

I'd be surprised if they aren't rushing around to get another few in development already. Aside from Giants, of course.

Not a fan of this two every two years schedule they're shifting to. I quite liked the one a year schedule they had going.

Yeah, Disney has been on a real roll the last 3 years with Tangled, Wreck It Ralph and Frozen. That's the best trifecta since Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King came out one after another from '91-'94. If The Rescuers Down Under hadn't come between The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast all 4 of the big Golden Age movies would have been in a row.

I just wonder if Big Hero 6 can keep the streak alive. It's ambitious, but I'm not sold yet that a Marvel/Disney animated superhero movie will hit as big as a good animated movie under the Disney brand.

Winnie the Pooh came out between Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph.

I'm hoping it'll be good, but I'm not expecting it to touch Frozen, Tangled or Wreck-It Ralph. Especially not Frozen or Tangled, though I'm partial to Disney's musicals and princess movies over their non-musicals and non-princess ones when done right.

Ah, forgot about the Pooh movie. :oldrazz:

Weekend screen counts:
Frozen will lose 294 screens but still has 2460.

That's actually much better than I was expecting, I though it would lose at least 500, but it has the 2nd best screen hold of the top 25 holdovers losing just 10.7%

List of screen counts with gains/losses this weekend:

y'know what else is amazing about Frozen's success?

the weather hasn't exactly been very good in many parts of the country with all the ice and snow.

yet people seem to be still going out to see Frozen, which ironically, is about ice and snow!!

I can't recall if this was posted here earlier, but about a month ago when that big winter storm was raging at least 1 theater had a sense of humor about it.

Holy. Crap. This girl's cover of "Let It Go' is sensational. And she sings it sitting down. And English isn't even her native language

I actually posted this video a few pages back, and she's a Korean. I agree; her rendition of Let It Go is one of the best I've seen on Youtube.

so how much is it projected to make this weekend?

I really liked Winnie the Pooh. Had a great feel

well, this weekend: The sing-along version of Frozen is competing with The Lego Movie.

BO Mojo is projecting that Frozen will make about $6m this weekend.

God damn I got a message saying this video isn't available. I would love to watch it!

Just got my Frozen soundtrack to go along with other musical soundtracks Idina Menzel had starred in:

it is inevitable!!!

Even better the third time. :oldrazz:

Though I didn't get to double feature because, when running to catch the bus for the first showing, I forgot my pass and hurt myself along the way.

Oh, I'm fine now, just fell on the sidewalk. My calves and knees were aching for a few hours but they're fine now.

Hehe. Thanks.

So in China, even with a limited 10 day run and relatively low theater count, Frozen is pacing to make 20-25m. Had it been given a reasonable run there it could have done 50.

In South Korea it's still a behemoth, its 4th Friday is almost as big as it's first Friday was

Frozen 1st Friday: 169.5k
Frozen 4th Friday: 161.5k (6,775,099/$50,374,163)

Frozen will probably end up passing 9 million admissions to pass Iron Man 3 as the second highest Hollywood movie ever released there (Avatar is #1 with over 13m admissions).
10m is possible now.
