Disney's Frozen - Part 2

I knew that Elsa is more popular of the two sisters, but I thought that since Anna is the true heroine of the movie she'd be popular as well, not to mention that she has a very funny and endearing personality. But Elsa in her icy dress definitely has more of a WOW factor than her younger sister.

her big number song "Let it Go" probably has alot to do with it as well. Plus Elsa is a very different disney character and I think audience were taken aback by how much this character isn't the typical model instead she fresh and new.

Google trends yo.

Nobody wants Anna toys at all. Looks like people were all about the Olaf at Christmas though.

Searches for Olaf were nearly identical to the Anna searches. Elsa is definitely the breakaway star of this movie.

wow!! :wow:

thanks!!

guess I'm more surprised by Anna's low numbers......lol.

Elsa is the cooler (literally) sister!!

she's also smoking hot!! :o

My guess is people thought Anna was just Rapunzel without the long blonde hair and therefore boring. Their personalities are almost exactly alike.

not quite.

while Anna and Rapunzel are both adorable/bubbly, while also being awkward/clumsy, not too mention naïve/trusting, I'd say Anna is more of an extrovert while Rapunzel is more of an introvert.

Anna's also way more bold and impetuous.

Rapunzel's much more cautious, unsure of herself, lacks confidence, wishy washy, etc.

Anna's also WAY more into guys, love, and all that romance stuff. And judging by how quick she jumped at Hans' proposal, I'd say Anna was extremely [BLACKOUT]horny[/BLACKOUT] too. :oldrazz:

Well, I did say *almost* identical. There are minor differences. Yes, Rapunzel's more introverted, due to her isolation and constant emotional abuse from Gothel. She's also more artistic.

But overall they both have the same hyper, bubbly personality, and kids probably think they've already seen Anna before so they think she's boring. Elsa's much more different and interesting (even if I think her character was way underdeveloped in the movie).

Excellent theater hold for next week. I'm guessing theaters are expecting Frozen to win best animated picture and get a bump this week.

Frozen - 1,746 -145 -7.7%

Should pass 385m today, maybe close to 389m after the weekend.
Worldwide I expect it to be around 995m after the weekend, so close to a billion now.

It better win, damnit!!! :cmad:

I feel like Elsa's popularity comes down to her being so very different from just about every previous Disney character. Also, she was complex, which appealed to a lot of people. The fantastic song and cool X-Men powers didn't hurt either. I love Anna, she was great. However, she was a much more traditional character in many ways. That's not a bad thing mind you, but I can see why people were more drawn to Elsa.

I agree.

and that's one reason why I wouldn't mind a sequel, if it is more Elsa-centric storywise.

and, of course, if IT'S GOOD!!!

either that or with the Broadway version, they can add to Elsa's character and give her a few more songs ( like some tender songs ).

For the record, Elsa was my favorite character (for all of the reasons that I mentioned above).

Well, I won't say Anna is a traditional princess. Kristen Bell in an interview said she had helped to shape Anna into a much more down-to-Earth and realistic girl. Anna in the movie wakes up drooling, is clumsy and impulsive, and is quite courageous. I really don't think she is a standard cookie-cutter princess at all.

I agree Anna is different than most Disney princesses. Most are timid damsel in distress types who are typically following a man's lead.
Anna is a strong willed extrovert, she makes her own decisions and follows through guns blazing.
Anna decides to go bring back Elsa on her own, she enlists the aid of Kristoff but still takes charge (so cute when she says "We go now. Right now."). She fearlessly takes the plunge, literally, when she dives off the cliff before Kristoff can get to "3", and many more examples. She walk that fine line of being strong willed, but not overbearing.

I didn't say that she was traditional. I said that she was MORE traditional when compared to Elsa, who's VERY unique. When I see Anna (who I really like btw) I see shades/elements of Mulan, Tiana, and Rapunzel in her.

Hmmm - I don't agree with that. A few of the very early ones are, like Snow White (who was only a child really), but most of them aren't timid at all.

Ariel - I wouldn't call her timid, she stood up to her father and was brave enough to face Ursula to get what she wanted.
Mulan - big no way
Cinderella - she stood up to her stepmother to get to go to the ball, undaunted by years of emotional abuse. She never seemed afraid to me.
Snow White - yeah, maybe, but it was the 1930s and again, she was just a kid.
Jasmine - no way
Aurora - was she timid? Sheltered maybe but she ventured out on her own...
Belle - didn't seem to have a problem with handling herself
Pocahontas - no way
Merida - big no way
Tiana - I had issues with her character but timid she wasn't

So I don't agree that most of the Disney princesses were shrinking violet types. Most of them actually tended in the opposite direction from the looks of things. And which ones only 'followed a man's lead'?

As for being in distress, that's what their stories were mostly about. It's not like Dinsey could tell Sleeping Beauty without the spinning wheel or Beauty and the Beast without her being captive.

Took my nephew to see Frozen this morning! It's in the small theater now, but it was still about half-full. He loved it! It was funny, he was really into it. When "Let It Go" ended, it he said "I like that song!" He loved Olaf and the trolls too, and he even asked if we could build a snowman after the movie (and since we're getting another snowstorm on Monday, my folks told him they could this week).

But it really fun, I'm glad we finally got to go. I didn't realize there was a post credits scene until today, either.

actually, to me, the most "timid" princess was Rapunzel.

but that's part of what makes her so endearing.

and she certainly wasn't a damsel in distress.

Don't know if she's elated or gassy.......but she's somewhere in the zone!!

would you hear any other princess use the word gassy?? NO!! :oldrazz:
