Disney's live-action "Mulan"

Disney will never touch the Pocahontas story again, unless they want to do an historically accurate version in which there are no cute raccoons or singing trees.

I still think they made the movie to hype the American History theme park they were planning in Virginia that ended up getting canceled.

Why?

These stories are retellings of their own. I don't see what the problem is.

And theyre making millions on it and people want them to stop

why stop at something you're successful at?

It ain't like they having DC movie failures

They're mostly hot garbage.

They're mostly hot garbage.
According to who? Critics?

People are actually enjoying themselves at the movies watching these movies.

Yall take these movies too seriously sometimes.

Hot garbage doesn't make a billion at the box office

I don't really care to who. I find them mostly wholly pointless and bad. Trying way too hard to ride the nostalgia bandwagon. Also with terrible singing.

I wish these remakes would stop.
I'd rather see remakes of animated films instead of reboots/sequels that took so long to make of dozen live action films (ex: Terminator, MiB, Avatar, Alien, Predator, Rambo, Ghostbusters and even Indiana Jones). Also its not like they are gonna get countless sequels. Alice stopped at #2 while I don't see Maleficent being a big hit as the first one.

Also, other studios are also adapting movies that imo, Disney should have already adapted into live action. For example, Snow White/the Huntsman, The Legend of Tarzan, Lionsgate's Hercules, Lionsgate's Robin Hood, King Arthur and theres another studio making a Cinderella movie and there was that Mowgli movie. At least Disney's remakes are more interesting to watch and the quality over all are much better than those adaptations. I'm looking forward to their live action adaptation of Mulan, The Little Mermaid and Lilo & Stitch. I haven't seen the 101 Dalmatians live action films, so Cruella would be new to me. Then after those four, I hope these would be their next projects:

Pinocchio
Rapunzel
The Frog Prince
Snow White
Pocahontas
Peter Pan
Tarzan
Hercules
Robin Hood

Then I guess a Frozen live action take sometime in 2030s, but change the title to Snow Queen.

I will say this in the movies favour, the actress Crustal Liu seems pretty good, watched a movie with her in it recently. She would make an excellent Chun-Li in a Street Fighter movie.

Disney will never touch the Pocahontas story again...

Yeah. Arguably, the recent Disney remakes have successfully navigated the modern landscape of political correctness and cultural sensitivity. But their version of the Pocahontas story - heavily fictionalized and romanticized - might be too “radio active.” :word:

Radioactive is the right word. The original Pocahontas was a mistake and remaking it in this day and age would be an even bigger mistake.

She would make an excellent Chun-Li in a Street Fighter movie.
Would she? There's nothing thunderous about her thighs. :hehe:

Read that they'd supposedly changed up the characters from last time that Li Shang will be replaced with a new love interest.

I hope the rumour about them dropping Mushu isn't true, he's the best part of the movie.

Wow that would be great! I wasn’t expecting news til d23.

Although predictably people will say Disney will release the trailer to cover the Ariel controversy

I just... I hope it looks good. I love Mulan, but everything about this sounds off to me.

Mulan is my favorite Disney movie, so I’m very nervous and excited about this.

Oh damn, I didn’t realize they were far enough along to have a teaser yet. Nervous/excited.

My only concern is whether we get the phoenix or Mushu. I doubt we're even gonna see either because the first teaser for the original didn't showcase Mushu at all.

Now that I know a teaser was on the horizon, I now suspect we WILL see the phoenix, and that's why the news about it came out when it did.
