Disney's live-action "Mulan"

well, they better cast an Asian girl to play Mulan!!!

I'm looking at you Last Airbender...........

just throwing it out there, Jamie Chung ;) she is awesome as her in Once.

Could jamie be believable as a male soldier though?

I would suggest t.v carpio because she can sing too!

Disney is really going hard on these live-action versions of tales they've already done in animation (for the most part).

I'd actually be pretty excited for this. Mulan is one of my favorite Disney movies and it could pretty easily translate into live-action. Just NO RACEBENDING, you hear me Disney?

Oh and if this happens, can we please give Ming-Na a role? Yes she WAY too old to play Mulan now, but he could have A role nonetheless.

I'd prefer an actual Chinese actress, or AT LEAST an Asian one.

Technically we don't NEED to see ANY movie. Doesn't mean that it cannot be good.

How old is she supposed to be like 18? I won't front, I wouldn't mind seeing Mushu for a little levity, but if they're going more grounded, forget it.

This. She's not old enough to play Mulan's mom, but maybe one of the Great Ancestors?

oooh, this is one I would be very excited for!

Unless they white wash it. It had better be an all asian cast.

They would catch shade from white people themselves if they tried to cast white folks.

Judging by their past three cartoon to live-action adaptations, I doubt they're going for grounded. For sure they'll have a little dragon in there. Maybe even voiced again by Eddie Murphy.

Kinda wish they'd do a Hercules. The Rock version ruined it by trying to ground it in reality.

It'd be Kevin Hart now.

I was just watching the animated flick and thought this could be good in live action. Maybe they could have the emperor call her an "honorary" princess of China so that her inclusion in the Disney Princess line up makes some sense.

Yes, she's the one who sticks out like a sore thumb in that line-up. Or they could just have Li Shang (or a Li Shang-type character) be a member of the Chinese royal family AND a soldier this time around.

Isn't Alice a princess too for some reason? She was one in Kingdom Hearts.

According to the Disney wiki, she (along with others) is a "guest" character. Not an official one but occasionally lumped in. This is the official lineup at the moment:

Mulan will be Asian, the villains will be Asian, the buffoonish sidekicks will be Asian, and Shang the male love interest will be a tall good-looking white guy who had one Samoan grandparent.

The tricky thing about that though is that chinese songs and western songs like the ones in Mulan are sung quite differently so I think it's far more likely an asian American actress will get the role rather than a chinese actress.

Oh my gosh! Imagine if they got ming Na wen back! I love her. Obviously probably not for mulan but for another role?

Mulan is one of my fave Disney movies, I'd welcome a live-action movie
