Disney's live-action "Mulan"

So I heard that the movie is out at retailers like Target and Walmart now. It came out last week.

Amazon Prime still lists it at $19.99. Do we know when that price will drop? Usually it drops when the movie is out on shelves

Is that right? I didn't think Disney+ would do physical releases of their exclusive content.

I do expect things to return back to normal eventually as well. It's just when is the question, but these studios need to be patient and stop just throwing movies out there randomly and expecting any kind of profitable returns, because 2020 is pretty much a lost cause now. It's time to move on to 2021/2022 and hope for the best then and I'm glad these results for Mulan have given them a wake up call on that.

I'm not optimistic about 2021 either.

I'm not optimistic about 2021 either.

We have two vaccines with 90% and 94.5% effectiveness rates in trials, one of which doesn’t have the extreme cold storage requirements of the first one, so if their trial effectiveness holds true, I think things will start to get better over the course of 2021. But it’s not going to be any magic zap, and I think it’ll be later in the year before enough people are vaccinated to where it might really start having a big impact.

did not know that Ming-Na Wen was in this as a cameo wow.

The vaccines aren't a cure all, and trials are still trials. Additionally, the medical experts were also wrong about summer heat killing the virus.

The only person saying it was going to disappear in summer heat was Trump.

Fair enough, but the experts did say the summer heat could damage it but cautioned not to bank on it. Either way, the former did not happen.

But when I look past all the headlines about the new prospective vaccines, the articles raise plenty of questions that aren't answered.

Sorry to sound pessimistic, but my optimism is pretty much dead at this point.

So. Amazon Prime still lists "Mulan" as $19.99. I don't know why. The movies been out at retail almost a month now

I'd really like to see it but don't want to spend $20 dollars to own it.

Disney Plus has it for free now right?

Dumb strategy. Not the movie to try it with for sure. But I’ll watch it tonight now that I don’t have to pay extra.

Their mistake was announcing when it would be included in the normal subscription. I still don’t know why they did that...

Just watched it. It was very meh. It felt more like a cartoon than the 1998 film ever did. Which is funny that they got rid of Mushu when he’d actually fit right in with the tone of this. I didn’t buy the performance of the actress who played Mulan and the Jet Li Emperor thing at the end felt like a Mel Brooks spoof of Mulan. Very strange movie.

My guess is that they already had that date in mind for Disney+ release launch. Plus with the pandemic and people getting furloughed, it's a case of this being a big corporation and not every hand knows what the other is doing. The Mulan Disney+ release was a sudden change they had to make due to the pandemic. But it serve in botching the paid launch.

So whats the consensus, people? Worth watching? Im planning to do a double feature today of the OG cartoon and the new on Disney + if its worth it.

I just finished. It was ....fine? I enjoyed parts of it but the movie just felt so...sterile. The actress who played Mulan lacked charisma and personality but it probably wasnt her fault since the overall tone of the film was very grounded and straight faced. The type of film that washes right over you as soon as your done.

Not a bad movie by any means but much like the Lion King remake last year, its...fine?
