Disney's Peter Pan and Wendy from David Lowry

Looks decent. A lot of focus on Wendy, the Pam costume from the little we see of it looks interesting

I'm not a huge Peter Pan guy, but for me Wendy is easily the best version of this story.

Two questions: Is Tinkerbell still going to be a murderous psychopath? And second, will a good amount of time in the first act be dedicated to her being concerned about the size of her ass?

It actually looks surprisingly well shot for a direct to D+ movie. Leagues beyond Pinocchio, Hocus Pocus 2 and Disenchanted. I think that they've kind of said everything that needed to be said as far as live action versions between Hook and the 2003 Peter Pan but on the other hand I'll make an exception for Lowery.

Harsh lighting aside, I thought Pinocchio looked decently expensive. Same for Disenchanted. This however, is another level. Lowery is the obvious answer. Excited for this.

I normally don’t get too excited about these remakes nowadays (maybe The Little Mermaid, we’ll see how that one goes), but this looks surprisingly like a lot of fun, pretty well shot, and Lowery seems to be doing something interesting with the source material instead of going beat-for-beat and just copying/pasting everything.

Consider me interested.

Its a bit odd, it is not exactly the same visually, in order to keep the trademark, that I would expect from the live action remakes.

Kinda surprised they kept Tiger Lilly, though.

I know this was "made" for Disney+, but it makes me wonder why they aren't releasing stuff like this and Disenchanted in theaters. Would they made a crap ton of money? I don't think so. But would they make a decent chunk of change, even with the original Disney+ budget? I'm starting to think yes. WW, they'd probably be able to pocket somewhere in the realm of 700m-800m between this, Disenchanted, Hocus Pocus, and Pinocchio just on nostalgia alone. That would have to be worth it, right? Especially when you can stick it on your service a month latter.

They'd never cut the everlasting love square. :o

They could but it's probably too late to set up a theatrical release. A lot of these deals were made back a couple years ago where all the streaming services were making sh** exclusively just fill their library. Now that covid isn't that big of a deal and everyone is back outside, the value of streaming is not really there anymore but they still have to fulfill the deal they made. So now we have movies like Peter Pan, Disenchanted, and Prey that are unfortunately going only to streaming.

The vast, and I mean vast, amount of that would have been from Pinocchio.

And quite frankly, Disney always had their tax write off movies. Its just easier to just toss them on streaming now than to actually pay for marketing.
