DmC: Devil May Cry

Capcom is really taking their time with this one. It'd be nice to see that they're next to a closure, at least. I don't know exactly what I should be waiting for if there's no release date.
thats bc they are making all the DLC for it ahead of time

It's possible that he met some one(girl friend wise) that has influenced him into thinking in that way. It happens man.

Yeah. This guys whole take on Devil May Cry and whats "cool" just sucks. Ninja Theory has some decent creative ideas/stroy telling with other games but for DMC they have not seemed like the best choice so far. Bad character designs, a sense of taking itself too seriously, gameplay that doesnt seem to rival the previous, 30fps and now no voluptuous hot chicks. Really doesnt seem like they liked the other games besides some of the gameplay elements.

Really want to like this game but so far there has been nothing to prove itself worthy.

While I can't speak for the gameplay of DMC, I'm almost certain that the story and characters will turn out great. The team at Ninja Theory are really good at creating stories and fully fleshed out characters, so the hate on that aspect of the game is unwarranted.

Cant judge the story yet, the decision of making Dante half Angel and Half Demon even though Ninja Theory wants Dante to be more human doesnt seem like a good call to me and an odd choice. If they want him more human and in human form , why not just keep him half human ? They seem to have no respect for the original games story and what fans want to see so I have a problem there. Well see. I did like Heavenly Sword, and think they are capable of telling good stories.

I'm a pretty big Devil May Cry fan and even I don't have respect for the story. Some good ideas, but the characters, dialogue etc. were very corny and 2 dimensional; I think in that aspect Ninja Theory will do a good job. What i'm really concerned about is gameplay. The previews that have been shown look good, but Enslaved, gameplay wise, was pretty simplistic and repetitive and I don't know if they can make this new DMC to the standards of previous ones.

Aside from the demo i've never played heavenly sword, so I don't have much to go off of when it comes to knowing whether or not Ninja Theory is capable of creating a great action game that can surpass previous games in the DMC series, but going off Enslaved, I'd say no. If anyone has any opinions in relation to that i'd like to hear them.

Right on, if you dont like the story and only play for the gameplay then thats only one thing to worry about haha. Its def the most important in a DMC game. I personally like the Storyline of DMC 1 and 3 alot. The cheesy ridiculous dialogue and over stylized characters have always been there and to me its part of the fun of the series.

Heavenly Sword was cool, I played it awhile ago but the gameplay is not what stood out to me. Def not up there with GOW or any of the DMC's. It was very repetitive and didnt have alot of options for combos etc, I remember cinemtaic moves and scope being more important. The combat does look a bit similar to what Ninja Theorys doing in DmC to me but a bit sped up. In comparrsions to the other Devil May Cry games DmC looks a lot slower on the combos and moves that have been shown which is what has me worried. Hopefully they add to the multiple styles on the fly like DMC4 did and not just these Angel and Demon triggers. So far whats been shown has nothing compared to DMC3 and 4 as far as gameplay. This game looks like a Ninja Theory game design wise and gameplay. If it didnt have the DMC name I would not be *****ing, Id probably be stoked actually. Their just making it to much their own thing and delivering on the level of Bayonetta and DMC style gameplay is something I dont think Ninja Theory can do.

Sadly, I think you're right. Also, as you said, I did notice that the speed seemed a little slow with the new DMC.

Yeah these games should be lightning fast. Since they dont give two ****s about the characters and story Im hoping they take cues from the previous DMC games on gameplay. So far I havnt seen that. I think they want to do their own thing or a hybrid.

The moving levels in this clip look pretty cool. Digging the whole world turning into obstacles. Mixed with combat it could be intense.

Yeah I agree, it's really cool the way everything sort of shifts and moves. I know you might disagree, but I kind of like the whole 'Dante might be insane' approach that they're taking with the story, I think it fits well.

Maybe it's just me.. but I just can't get over changing DMC to DmC just "because." It would be like if someone took, say, the Ninja Turtles and instead of having their origin be that of mutated pet turtles trained by a Ninja rat to.. I dunno.. Having them be aliens from another planet or something...

I'm willing to give the game a chance.. that video looks cool and all.. but I don't see myself rushing out to buy it. I just wish the dude was called something else other than Dante.

It depends, to me. I'm interested, but I'll get it only if it gets great reviews.

IGN review is up for the HD collection and it got a 7.5: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1222060p1.html

Kinda dissapointing some of the things they pointed out. I still dont understand why some developers wont program it into the games for you to get back to the main menu, instead forcing you to exit back to the XMB if you want to change games. It seems this will be even worse here for DMC2 if you simply want to switch between thw two different campaigns that game has to offer. Also seems odd that they would go through the trouble of making the games widescreen but then it switches back to 4:3 when you pause and navigate the menus

IGN trips me out sometimes, now each of these games individually were pretty good, except for DMC 2, now that they've brought the games back, did they think Capcom would go through and fix the camera issues???? I can only imagine what would happen should they re-release the Onimusha games.

Meh, I really enjoy DMC 1-3.. SO I'm gonna pick this up tomorrow.

I wish when developers do hd remakes of their classic games they use the most recent engine, rather than smoothing out textures or whatever they seem to be doing. That's what Tomb Raider did and it turned out great. I would have loved to play the hd remakes of God of War using the engine they had for GOW III. DMC would have been great also.

Picked up the HD collection.

Forgot how hard DMC 3 can be at times. Getting my ass kicked a few times. Awesome game, makes me want to play DMC 4 again as well, really liked switching styles during gameplay.

I believe this is a new trailer. Looks horrible imo. I actually liked the other trailers better. While some of the signature moves in gameplay look they are back, what Ive seen of the story and New Dante looks way more lame then the previous. The humor and check out how cool I am **** isnt working here at all. Ninja Theory said they wont lower themselves by having girls with Big boobs in the game but theyll give us a naked Dante flying through the air in slo mo. Wtf Ninja theory?

Seems like all the negative reception the game has received pressured them to partially revert back to the old style of DMC. Even though it's a bit of a cop out, can't say I blame them. Either way i'm liking what i've seen so far and unless things drastically change from now until release date, this will be a day one purchase for me.

just remember that was just a trailer and not fully in game "game play." just cause former of what I'm saying looks like what was done in previous DMC games doesn't mean they've fully gone back to the former style that it was known for.
