DmC: Devil May Cry

Capcom and their usual crap.
Oh well, it looks awesome, though. But seems to be part of the story that will be cut from the main game.
I guess its at least free if you preorder from Gamestop, but ugh, I dont tend to shop there. Retailer exclusives are the worst

It's a good thing I still don't care for it.

I hope this DLC pack is satisfying

A few questions for Devil May Cry fans.
  • Is the second game actually bad, or is the hate for it overblown because the developers did something different or because it just didn't quite live up to expectations?
With all that is said about it, you can play it as a filler and don't bother thinking of it cannon

The only thing that bothers me about DMC4's story is that they don't explain Nero. At all.
I guess they left that for a sequel, which I don't suppose will happen anytime soon
Someone mentioned something about the possibility of Nero being Vergil's son

I don't think he's Vergil's kid. I think he's sparda's they were treating spada like a god ala Zeus and Olden and those two got around i wouldn't be surprised if it were like that or that he at least hid his youngest some where else cause of his age still a baby while the others were who were older and were a little more capable of defending them selves when other demons came after him and Dante's and Virgil's mom.

Yay! I'm really anticipating its controls and the action.

Don't go worrying that DmC: Devil May Cry is going to be too easy following the series' move to a western developer. At a recent preview event we spotted evidence of the return of four of the series' traditional unlockable difficulty settings, a couple of which should be as far from a push-over as it gets.
Difficulty settings:

Easy: Human
Normal: Devil Hunter
Hard: Nephilim

After completing one of them, it unlocks the next, then the next one, until the final difficulty setting:

Very hard: Son of Sparda - Enemies get tougher, attack waves are remixed.
Harder than very hard: Dante Must Die - Contains the strongest enemies and insane attack waves
Not that hard: Heaven or Hell - The remixed mode, but everyone and everything, including Dante, dies after one hit.
Crap your pants hard: Hell or Hell - The same as above, but only Dante dies after one hit.

I really hope we don't have to complete Hell or Hell to unlock the Platinum trophy. Such an unfair difficulty.

Haha, thats pretty cool. I dread the trophies associated with these though

I will find a trainer to play those difficulties

Me too. I usually achieve it, but Hell or Hell just seems infuriating. I hope they don't take the checkpoints out in this setting.

Hands-on: 6 ways it absolutely improves on the original series
Don’t think for a second that the new Dante isn’t every bit as cool and cocky and smart-mouthed as he ever was. He absolutely is, without even a hint of emo moping whatever the current internet perception of his character might be. What he is – along with the rest of the game’s cast in fact – is a character with real depth, believable human responses to events (despite not being human), and a layered, properly explored character arc.

1. The combat is more accessible, but no less deep
DmC is about ease of use, but certainly not ease of challenge. It’s not long at all before the game starts demanding extremely creative use of its toolset, turning fights into high-speed puzzles of logic and dexterity. It does so with an immense sense of confidence, both in the robustness of its own bag of tricks to handle such challenges, and in the player’s ability to use those tools to their full potential.

2. Visually, it's off the chart
You simply have not played a AAA action game with looks and atmosphere like DmC. In terms of production design, this game has a personality all of its own. Gone is any sense of the old series’ clichéd gothic fantasy, the game’s every location and monster now instead infused with a fizzing urban decay and stark, lunatic brutality.

3. The gameplay mix is more creative and more coherent
Platforming and puzzle diversions often felt like uneasy token gestures, stapled to the games as an afterthought and breaking their flow rather abruptly. In DmC though, everything feels absolutely right. Dante’s jumping controls are much smoother now and, coupled with his slick, tactile grapple abilities and smooth air-dash, they make exploration almost as appealing a prospect as the game’s core demon-battery.

4. The cast are real people, not cartoon stereotypes
His past is properly fleshed out, as is his development into his future self, but this is executed with a pacey, upbeat, and dynamic treatment. Moreover, character development is emphasised and punctuated by in-game action, rather than halting it with lengthy naval-gazing cutscenes. The upshot is that you won’t just find Dante cool this time. You’ll genuinely find yourself caring about him.

5. Every place and action has real purpose now
With a location-hopping structure of self-contained levels now, setting, narrative and gameplay are bound with a far greater sense of combined purpose. Thematically everything ties together to powerful combined narrative and gameplay effect. And that’s a quality present throughout the game.

6. No more cheesy industrial metal on an infinite loop
What Devil May Cry 4’s combat soundtrack lacked in cutting edge quality, it more than made up for in repetition. Thankfully that horror is a thing of the past. DmC’s soundtrack – an original co-production between Noisia and Combichrist - is every bit as fresh, modern, exciting, eclectic, and pulse-poundingly affecting as DMC4’s wasn’t. And you won’t believe what a difference makes

I think this is a good read for those who are still skeptical about it. I'll wait for the demo to cement my anticipation, but so far, it's a must buy to me.

Ok, I think they are ambitious with their way for this game
Hope they deliver it right

The combat is great, I love how the city is trying to kill you. Dante is a great character already just from the demo. Finally, the game is beautiful

it might not. Alot of people are just plain stubborn. oh they might also use the fact that frames per second are slower then the original series as a reason/ excuse to keep up their grudge going among other things to add their their lists. it's best to stop worrying abut them for now.

I just played the demo and the thing is amazing. I LOVE the graphics and art style of the demo. Very colorful and vibrant and I like the little touches like the messages that pop up in the environment.

Gameplay felt fast and fun and thought they did a great job with the battle system. Im pumped for it. It looks different yet feels very familiar. This game is Devil May Cry. Really digging the new Dante

I did think that the platforming is the one thing I thought could use some work.

I loved how colorful it was. Just rapes your eyes with its beauty.

I don't know if I'd buy this for $60, but it had its moments. The combat's fun and the level design's wild. I wanted to find as much as I could the first time through, so getting blocked off from previous areas as I progressed bugged me a bit. Dante's "new 'tude" and the boss battle were stupid; I don't care whether it all fits with the rest of the series or not, they just feel tacked on to an otherwise interesting action game.

Tomorrow, I'll try out Son of Sparda, and toy around with the combo system some more. That should wring some more juice out of this demo.

Just played. It was alright. Def alot of combos to mess with. The moving levels were awesome as well. Not sure Im a fan of getting rid of locking on to an enemy. Naturally kept trying to do that. Other then mastering the gameplay I could care less about this new Dante and the story. Still dont like his design or attitude at all. Also my cut scenes looked pretty friggin choppy. Not sure whats up with that.

Overall it was chill. Nothing great imo. Definitely gonna miss the more gothic anime style of the originals and even though Im not digging the changes to the characters and story in this, the gameplay seems fun to get the hang of.

tried the 1st level of the demo last night.

my initial impression............the combat is freakin INSANE!!! I love how you can switch between the weapons on the fly and just feel like a bada**.

the story......I find it intriguing, much more so than the original Devil May Cry.

the dialogue and cutscenes, however............maybe it was just because it's a demo and the scenes were heavily edited. but I didn't really like the way Dante delivered his lines..........

but, so far, I'm impressed. I'm going to check out the second level tonight.

oh, and for the record, if they do make a DMC movie, I'd love for someone like Guillermo del Toro to make it. especially with this game's setting and story.
