Yeah, I got a Heavenly Sword vibe as well.
I just played the demo. This game seems pretty ugly. I'm not sure what they gained by decreasing the framerate to 30fps.
I dont see the gain either. I havnt really felt a difference to be honest, a few times it lost its fluidity but nothing too drastic.
After spending sometime with the combat I think its pretty solid. Dont know if its an improvement over 3 and 4 but there are def some things I miss and some new additions I love. Ive had a few frustrating moments with the game grappling the closest enemy as opposed to what Im aiming for and as far as this game not featuring styles to choose from its hard to tell right now if that was a good call or not. It seemed such a staple to the franchise. Cant make that call this early, because the weapon swithcing does seem promising.
The Slurm Boss fight was lame, easy and repetitive. Def the weakest part of the demo for me. The fact that you can get your style points upped to max by doing the same move seems like something they need to fix. The style meter may just score you on damage done as opposed to combos and style here.
The music hasnt seemed as cool, def like that it changes every fight but the tracks to me have seemed more rock then the metal, gothic opera and techno of the previous. And the dubstep was pretty weak imo. Needs to be heavier and the metal needs to be faster. If they want to go this more "hip" route, no need to half ass it. The Noisia stuff Ive heard on soundcloud sounds alright.
Still hate new Dante with a passion, especially the design. Glad they allow you to skip cutscenes cause I would have went crazy having to listen to the dialogue over and over. Otherwise Im digging it. Look forward to the upgrades. Really wish they just went closer with some of the original story and character designs.
