i've seen a man beating up a woman in public and ignored it... and so did everyone else around it.
i think everyone was so disgusted by the fact that she was just SOOO apologetic for making him angry enough to beat her and then chasing after him and saying "nooo!! don't go!" everytime he turned to leave.
i mean, you dont' even WANT to help someone like that.
