Danalys said:they are conceptually synonymous. they just apply to different experiences but they work exactly the same way. i 'm thinking you can't see the forest for the trees. or if i said two trees were the same you would say they were different. but i would say they are the same and on a fundamental level they are they just grew in different places. that is if they aren't too dissimilar in genotype.

He's right, regardless of how right you are.
jaguarr said:You are arguing that context is completely unaffected by perception in any capacity which is incorrect and flawed at it's root. It's not seeing the forest FROM the trees. It's seeing the forest AND the trees. And is Plato's Cave the only only allegory you know? You bring it up often enough in the midst of arguments, sometimes in an irrelevant context, that I simply have to ask.

I took an I.Q. test once and afterwards I instantly saw how useless they are because my score was so high. If you're smart, you're aware of the fact that you don't really know anything useful and that the "dumb and happy" are to be envied.Danalys said:this how you ace an IQ test

to learn to be smart and happy is better but more difficult. gift curse weight of the world etc.Wilhelm-Scream said:I took an I.Q. test once and afterwards I instantly saw how useless they are because my score was so high. And dude, you've got to let go of the "Plato's Cave" gimmick. Regardless of how apt it may feel, you're starting to sound like a kid who read a book once.![]()

Danalys said:i brought it up twice and that because it's something you might know. it was usefull now. again as before.
the phrase is seeing the forest from the trees when i learnt it. the idea is that you are up in the trees and have perspective of the whole forest. but the canopy masks the details so only in shifting perspective can you know the forest in entirity.
nice tactic of presuming i'm wrong and then working from there tho. shame for you i actually know what i'm talking about and know a self consitant arguement when i see one. shift your perspective sometime. the true logical way is to presume your oponant right and take it to it's natural obserdity. you can't so you don't try. you've lost before you've begun. because your technique is the reverse of the intelligent way to do things..
jaguarr said:I'd say it's you that's trapped in Plato's Cave, to be honest. As far as the forest and the trees thing, I was simply saying that you should see both, not focus on one or the other. Sorry you missed that. You were too busy being "right" and stuck in your own perspective to catch it, apparently. You've not argued one logic point in this entire discussion, but asserted your opinion throughout including trying to "win" the debate by declaring that I lost before I began because I didn't argue in the "true logical way" when in reality it's you who faces that exact problem whilst lost deep in the caverns of Plato. I hope you're good at spelunking.

I can say, with 100% honesty that you are a Christian I don't want to kill. In fact,...Colossal Spoons said:Dude, I like how as a once Christian and a current Christian we can jovially poke fun at some of the crazy aspects of the religion and not wanna kill each other.![]()
Danalys said:i played to a draw you just didn't recognise it. it's like kasperof vs big blue. certainly it would have been nice if we had drawn. but for the sake of arguement as a game it's fun this way aswell.
also in two on one situations i fight twice as hard against either.
Wait, who's Big Blue?Danalys said:i played to a draw you just didn't recognise it. it's like kasperof vs big blue.
jaguarr said:Or perhaps I simply refuse to accept a draw. There can be only one, yadda, yadda, yadda.
