Do you guys think movieverse Xavier really "tamed" Wolverine?

I think he had some positive influence over him. Got him to listen to and agree on a few of his ideas for his vision of the world, some of which Wolverine may actually have agreed on. Wolverine was offered a home and family which he seemed to grudingly and slowly accept as well. And when given the ultimate choice by Stryker, Wolverine decided he'd rather take his chances with the X-Men instead of finding out more about the monster that he was in his secret life.
That and getting him to babysit the students was cute. He must have been annoyed as hell, but before the moment was spoiled by that paramilitary raid, he got to see some interesting, wacky behind the scenes things at what those students are really like. I think he warmed up to them just a little bit.

But when it comes to combat? There's still the reckless, self-sacrificing animal in him. They could teach him to be more team oriented, but I doubt they'd ever rid him of the beast within

Remember, when you cage the beast, the beast gets angry. Just ask the soldiers who invaded the mansion, Spike in the forrest, and any Brotherhood member who ran into him on Alcatraz.

Nope. If anyone "tamed" Wolverine it was Jean . . . just like in the comics.

I think Rogue tamed him a lot to in the movies...
Since he knew her he does everything for her... he even gave his life for her in X1

and he tries the same for Jean... heh... interesting how he runs off to find Jean kinda mirrors him running off to find Rogue in x1...

I don't think I'd pin it very much on Xavier - but I think Wolverine was definately tamed by X3. More probably from pining over Jean, and his relationship with Rogue, than Xavier.

Xavier didn't tame him, Rogue and Jean did. The ladies of his life.

How do we know that for sure though? Xavier put up blocks in Jeans mind because he knew her power was too much to control...why wouldn't he do the same to Wolverine? He knew Logan had the capability of going absolutley berserk. Jean also said that Xavier tamed him...something she would easily be able to see with her own psychic powers......

Absolutely- if your talking about trying to control him, and not "tame him" in the sense that Pheonix referred to. Xavier didn't go as far as to repeat the mental blocks thing or anything like that (we think..but it is possible), but we know he was influencing/controlling Logan atleast a little bit. Magneto commented in X2 to Logan that Xavier was holding things from him, including his memory. People still have trouble reconciling it, but Xavier is a little arrogant- he felt he knew what was best for Logan, so he acted on that, not on what Logan wanted for himself.

We know Xavier read Logan's mind and learned things about Logan's past. Whether Xavier went out of his way to keep these things hidden inside Logan's mind or just refused to tell him, we'll never know. But he still took it upon himself to decide on Logan's well-being. Does it mean he "tamed" him? Not necessarily. But it does mean he tried to make Logan act the way Xavier saw fit. Plus, Xavier was pretty condescending to Logan when talking about Jean- a "my way or the highway" type of attitude. And in X1, Xavier read Logan's mind without his permission ("It's been 15 years now, hasn't it.."). Like most of the X-trilogy though, whether or not he's been "tamed" is supposed to be somewhat ambiguous.

Yeah, Drago nailed it.
I always thought that Xavier´s attitudes towards Logan were never totally explained. He tried to help him, but at the same time kept things from him. Like Drago said, Xavier did what he thought was better, but like with Jean, in a way he manipulated Logan. I really would like to see a bit more of Xavier/Logan interaction in the X movies. Logan never asked Xavier why he was hiding the Stryker information from him, and the tension between them regarding Jean in X3 was very interesting.

Logan was actually tamed by the fact that he became part of a team and so he had responsibilities to take care of the others.

I don't know about tamed.... but he sure opened up the floodgates of weeping.
The guy cried a lot.

.

But it probably WAS best for him. If I was struggling to tame the beast inside me, and live a decent life....I don't think I'd really want to know I slaughtered a whole bunch of people before. Redemption would be made much harder knowing that. Would you REALLY want to know if you had done such terrible things but had no real memory or control of it?

But this time, Xavier turned out to be right. Logan was given a choice by Stryker at the end, to have his past, his entire life revealed back to him. And he decided that he'd rather live a life of mystery among his friends and people who actually cared about him, than to know the full extent of how bad he used to be. So he took off his dog tags and threw them at Stryker, walking back towards his new family.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. Xavier was right to do that.

That's what Xavier wants you to believe lol :p

yes and no. i mean xavior to some extent did. you can see logan works more in a team now. he isnt as much of a loner as before. but we still see the basic personality of wolverine. only now he has responsibilities other than himself.

but did he accept those responsibilities of his own free will 100% or do you think Xavier had some psychic influence on his decisions...

I don't think he's THAT bad...and Logan met Rogue before Xavier and I think Jean ''convinced'' him to be a team player :p

Yeah he's grudgingly accepted his new role, and part of him actually likes it. He'd just never ever admit it. Especially if Scott gets to be the team leader.

But even Logan has limits. Babysitting the kids? That's too much!! What's next? Dressing up as Santa for Christmas??
