I don't want thth to do it but if they do the backlash will be incredible.

But this could open more room for X-MEN. It's why I'm not mad about gotg either

I'd rather they finish Guardians with a third film and keep Spidey longer. X-men will get there time as well. No need to let two franchises go

What if the next film is the most successful spidey film to date?

That's the issue now. In all honesty, it all comes down to Far From Home's performance both critically and commercially. I'm personally rooting for Far From Home to cross a billion now.

I feel like this is going to hurt my hype for Far From Home, knowing that this could potentially be our last MCU Spider-Man appearance. Spider-Man in the MCU is the best thing that could ever happen to the character, not to mention it is probably the most profitable.

My question is, if they choose to take Spidey out, can they contractually keep Holland in the role, or would they have to recast him? I dont know if me, or the general audience can handle a 4th Spiderman in 20 years

No way Disney lets him go

They'll just buy up Sony if they have to
:funny:

Sony isn’t as big as fox. Fox is is much bigger.

Honestly guys, most sure fire way to make sure Sony renews the deal is to support FFH. Help it cross a billion or at least outperform Homecoming, and they almost will have to renew. It wouldn't make financial sense otherwise.

Will be going opening night and watching it on IMAX.

I hope to hell not, Holland is too good to be thrown on the mercy of Sony to run his Spider-Man into the ground.

That's what I've been asking for some time. If sony withdraws from the MCU (which would be the biggest mistake they could ever make), then they are stuck between a rock and a hard place:

If they are able to, does sony keep Tom Holland as Spider-Man and use him for their movies? If so, does that mean that the SUMC is now canon with the MCU? And if they do, that means that they have to ignore all MCU references, which is quite limiting since his origin is completely tied to the MCU.

If they don't keep Holland, that means another recast which will not go too well.

I think my main fear of removing Spider-Man from the MCU is this:

Tom Holland IS the MCU Spider-Man/Peter Parker. So if they take him out of the MCU and the Sony-Verse fails, then what? Where do we go from there? We can't just throw him back into the MCU... is that forever ruined? Ugh I really hate sony.

Disney are in a position where if they play well with sony they can use spider-man for however long of an arc feige has for him, which is said to be 5 movies. and even if they don't use spider-man they can still profit off merchandise for whatever sony does with him. and if it doesn't go well for sony it could only be a matter of time before they got spider-man back. so for Disney its win win.

As for buying Sony. at the moment they are buying FOX for almost half of Disneys worth. so they probably won't be throwing out cash out 40+ billions for anything else for some time just for spider-man.

Every dollar Venom continues to make, the more nervous and dumbfounded I get like Feige in his meme. Lol.
It's obvious Pascal has been scheming this for a while now and we know how stubborn she is. I think it's gonna come down to Feige convincing her that they can be just as successful using an alternate Spider-man(non-Peter).

Sony would be foolish to drag Spidey back into their universe at this point. Give Marvel a full 3-4 more films with Spidey and build your other characters, knowing that if you absolutely need him, you can bring Spidey in after a couple of years. Be smart and work with Feige and Marvel and cash in on the MCU.

Didn't Feige say that he wants to treat Peter in a similar fashion to Harry Potter? Where we see him in a different grade for each movie? I feel like we should at least get a third film in senior year where he graduates.

For this Kraven movie, they might as well replace Spider-Man with Venom and have them fight each other instead. Keep Spider-Man in the MCU.

Whats the deal with live action TV spiderman rights? Could marvel and disney theoretically keep holland by making a super high budget series on the streaming service, like theyre gonna do for loki and wanda?
I know its highly unlikely anyways but i really wonder whats up with those rights.

I think that Marvel has the TV rights, whether it is live action or theatrical. I guess they could have Spider-Man on that platform in theory, but I don't see it happening for a number of reasons, the primary being budgetary.

Presumbaly marvel can't make a live action TV show of Spider-man, id imagine if such loophole existed with the spider-man characters we would have heard something about it by now.

Disney own the tv rights, which obviously includes animation & live-action.
Disney choose not to make one. Unlike Fox, Sony isn't going over to ask to be able to make a Spidey show.

Not necessarily. I think the reason we haven't heard anything is because they don't have any plans to make one. I don't know if the budget would make such a series realistic in the foreseeable future.
