Far From Home Do you think Sony will take Spider-Man out of the MCU after this movie?

If marvel owned a way to get Spidey into the MCU without the film rights I'd imagine they would have taken it by now.

But then I remember when marvel made that Mutant X TV show and FOX sued them for it.

If Marvel was going to make a live action Spider-Man series, they would probably work that out with Sony. Otherwise I don't know enough about the fine print of these contracts

SONY won't take him out. They'll keep making movies on the side leeching off the MCU's success, picking up their crumbs. Venom wasn't a good movie as a whole, but it was definitely enjoyable for me. If they keep making them on the side and Spidey stays where he belongs, everyone wins.

Can Sony use Holland's Spider-Man in their spin-off movies after this Marvel deal?

Honestly, I find hard to believe Marvel didn't think about the possibilities after this deal. Back then, based on the leaks or rumours, Sony was planning even an Aunt May movie. So Marvel was well aware that Sony had the ambition of expanding the Spider-Man universe, either with Aunt May, or Sinister Six, Venom, Black Cat, etc...

Holland's Peter Parker was introduced in the MCU. So, by using him in other movies, Sony would be expading the MCU as well. So I believe there was some sort of clause in the deal to avoid the use of Holland's Spidey (Now part of the MCU) in other projects like Venom, Morbius, Kraven, etc... I don't think Marvel didn't consider what could happen after this deal. I think Sony would need Marvel's authorization to use specifically MCU's Parker.

Now, with the success of Venom and the end of this deal, I think this might come as a condition for a new deal: Marvel can continue to use Holland's Spider-Man for a few MCU movies (or even other heroes and villains like Spider-Woman or Green Goblin, for instance) in exchange of using some MCU characters and allowing Holland's Spider-Man to be part of their spin-offs.

Just a thought.

I feel like Marvel must have thought about it and considered this. If Sony pulls out of the deal, I do think that they would have to reboot/recast the character. No idea though.

If the Marvel/Sony deal ends, the only way to avoid canon issues is to recast Peter Parker. Otherwise is it just Sony making solo Spider-Man movies without the help of Marvel, where Spider-Man can't interact with the SUMC or the MCU? If not, Sony would be allowed to put Tom Holland's Spider-Man in their SUMC films, such as Venom, and force them into the MCU without consent from Marvel. I don't think they would be allowed to do that.

All of the options are:

• Keep Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU and separate from the SUMC.
• Remove Spider-Man from the MCU and recast him for the SUMC.
• Keep Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU and have a second live action Spidey in the SUMC.
• Remove Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU but place him in the SUMC, making that MCU canon.

I think options 1 and 2 are most likely. But all are possible.

Just to add, IF Tom Holland's Spider-Man joins the SUMC, I think it would be loose MCU canon and exist in its own bubble. Similar to how Marvel Netflix shows are MCU canon but entirely separate in terms of narrative.

Its safe to say that since Marvel and Sony made this deal it probably wouldn't hurt to finish out spideys arc in the MCU... you can probably guess Sony will let a 3rd film happen either way because it doesn;t change the fact they own the film rights and will make money on this brand for as long as possible. so no pressure really to jump the gun.

If 2 is as successful as Homecoming probably renew for one more film/two more appearances in order to wrap up the high school era, then after 3 (or 2 if it's not particularly successful) Sony would probably make their own new version with the character as an adult, think that would be both different from and a sort-of-continuation, at least the logical place to go, after the MCU high school version.

I'm not sure how much more Holland would want to play the character beyond one contract-extension, there could be pretty big disagreements between him and Sony and Marvel about how needed he was and thus how much money would be right.

Something like Holland dropping a bomb that the Sony/Marvel deal was extended would be big news and reputable journalists would want that scoop. Again, you're not hearing me...i take nothing from anyone as gospel...i got my own sources i refer to...nothing that collaborate his assertion on this particular rumor. He has made some credible assertions that I know he piggyback on; but, I also know, he does know some in the business, because they like his editorials, and they do give him some nuggets, when they need something or fandom geared a certain beneficial way.

I know many here & other forums I attend, have a dislike/distrust for these attention seeking youtube hordes...not trying to get caught up in whose the best/worst, real/fake mess...just not that critical to me. Some of the better ones do get solicited, because of their reach to the public, based on the number of hits & likes they receive.
