Superman Returns Do you think they should dedicate this film to Christopher Reeve?

There is no reason to not dedicate it to Reeve, a short screen showing dedicated to the memory of... is not overshadowing, or taking away from routh, etc...

1. Reeve is who 99% of people associate with the Superman character.

2. Reeve and his wife both just recently passed away, so it's more fitting than say if Reeve passed away a long time ago.

3. The film is OBVIOUSLY heavily based on the Reeve Superman movies, NOT the preceding Superman shows/"movies".

4. Routh was obviously chosen for his likeness to Reeve.

I think anyone who thinks a dedication is going to take away from the current film is looking to far into it, this is a restart of Superman that millions of new people are going to be seeing on the big screen for the first time.

For those of us that grew up with Reeve as our Superman the overshadowing is already there, a dedication isn't going to change that.

Better be the first thing I see after the WB logo, if its at the end of the movie or not on WB will get a letter from me *grrr* :D

At the end of the film they could have:

In memory of Christopher Reeve - the first cinematic Superman

Something like that would be nice. Just a thought.

I agree,

I would put something like this

In memory of Christopher Reeve - HE MADE YOU BELIEVE A MAN COULD FLY :supes:

I could've sworn that Singer did infact confirm that SR would have a memorial message for Chris before the movie.

I think it'd be a real nice touch if they did dedicate it to Chris.

Did't Singer say that was the plan?

its a dedication not overshadowing.... i personally think my idea would be done in good taste.... i see no problems with it

The studio would never do this in a film. They are trying to make people understand that Routh is now Superman, and to bring up the old actor who basically is Superman to the world would not happen. It would also confuse most people. I went to see spy kids 3-d in the theater and most 16 year old kids didn't even know who Sylvester Stallone was in the theater I saw it in. Whenever he would show up they would say "who is that guy" even though he is Rocky.

I also don't know why people are debating if theyare going to do this as Singer and the Studio said they are doing it. It is a done deal.
