Doctor Sleep

Not really familiar with Flanagan’s work besides Hill House, which i liked quite a bit, though, so I wasn’t as hyped for this as some of you guys already were. Big question mark will probably loom over it until release, on my part.

Was that some version of Also sprach Zarathustra playing over most of the trailer?

He directed Oculus and Gerald's Game. The guy's basically shaping up to be the next John Carpenter.

Every bit of this just feels unnecessary. The only thing that would pique my interest would be if it happens to garner overwhelmingly positive reviews.

150 minutes is a bit long but it's on par with The Shining which was 144-146 minutes and it's likely they'll do some trimming before it's released in November.

Good God YES.

Hell of a job they did recreating those bits at the Overlook.

You'd swear they just remastered the original film.

It's a pity Ready Player One already did a Shining recreation because I think the Doctor Sleep recreation looks a lot better

The trailer left no impression. Smells like the latest Halloween.

I'll be curious to see if
The ghost of Jack Torrance appears at the end like in the book. I wouldn't be surprised if they replace him with Wendy and/or Dick Hallorann since they have cast both to appear in Doctor Sleep
He is and is played by Henry Thomas, but ending is very different

Also who the hell is Cliff Curtis playing? He's the only actor besides McGregor and Ferguson to get a credit in the trailer, but I don't recall ever even seeing that he was involved with this movie.

Sponsor, he takes Dan in and helps him out with a few things not included in the book.

I'm guessing either Nicholson was too expensive or they hope to do a CGI face swap down the line

Also, is Jacob Tremblay playing young Danny?

I can't wait for it. Huge fan of Flanagan and almost everything he has done so far has been nothing short of amazing.

Nope, he plays the baseball boy. If you've read the book, you'll know what that role entails.

The teaser trailer looks really solid, but Flanagan being at the helm is what's definitely getting me hyped, especially after Gerald's Game and Hill House.

For me Flanagan hasn't made a bad film or project yet. Before I Wake is probably his weakest but it's still a solid little horror film with some cool ideas. Everything else is on a range of good (Hush, Gerald's Game, Absentia) to great (Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hill House).

The book has its issues but it also has a lot of great stuff, and I'm so confident in Flanagan as a storyteller and craftsman to bring out the best of King's story and tell it effectively.

Never doubt the Flanagan. Can't wait.

Certainly looks like Flanagan's movie! I like the trailer but that shot of Rebecca screaming with weird eyes looked really dodgy :
The eyes could've been worse...

Looks wonderful. Wouldn't have been interested in this (haven't read the novel) if it weren't for Mike Flanagan but since his films are so solid and Hill House is a legit masterpiece my hopes are high.

Was not expecting this to be an overt sequel to Kubrick's film.
