Not a big fan of Leto. Hoping the rumor is false.

There's only one real choice for this role, and we all know it.

:funny:

Ah, hell yes!

You know who would be good and I'm not sure he's been mentioned? Pedro Pascal. He would be so awesome in the role. The guy has charisma and wit along with that otherworldly charm to play a great Doctor Strange.

I'd love to see Joel McHale get some more high profile work, instead of just playing the pre-requisite *****ebag in dumb comedies like he's been doing recently. His work on Community is fantastic.

I think he would of made a good Ant-Man (Scott Lang)

Not gonna lie, I had the same thought a few times while watching GoT. He makes for a good "unknown" option, but I have a strong feeling they'll want to go with a bigger name for this one.

Yeah, Pedro would be great, but I think you are right, they want more of a name.

At first when I heard the Jared Leto suggestion, I was like "he's too pretty" but after seeing some pics of him in a beard, I think he would look right for the role.... and he's a damn good actor.

Said it before and I'll say it again, unlike [say] Superman or Captain America who have pretty strict visual attributes/requirements which need to be adhered to, Strange is a character that is not really that distinct/unique so the casting options become that much bigger; it means that its good for us [and Marvel] as it gives a plethora of really good actors to pool from, as evidenced in the wide array of suggestions in this thread.

That would actually be kinda awesome! I think you need someone who can pull off a sort of Mediterranean look that I think would be perfect for Doctor Strange.

I dont think Marvel 'need' to restrict their casting choices to actors that have that 'quality', which is what you seem to be intimating (if I wanted to be pedantic I'd highlight that theres no requirement for Strange to look Mediterranean given that [although born in Philly] he actually comes from Nebraska, with no mention of Italian, Spanish or [given other casting suggestions on here] Mexican roots). That being said, I dont see a problem if they decided to go with a non-white actor.

Visually, all thats basically required of an actor to play Strange is dark hair and a moustache/beard/goatee, and even those things can be done in makeup. As I said, the casting net for Stange can generally be wider than most lead comic book characters.

Must have greying sideburns! :argh:

For sure, but again, that could just as easily be added in makeup.

Iroicaly we as fanboys rarely think outside the box when fan casting. We want what we want and **** anything different.

Agree. When you think about it, how many suggestions have been made on here purely because a poster has seen an actor wearing a Strange-like beard [I'll admit to being guilty of that myself at times] and then thought 'Hey, he would be good'.

What's funny is that I can honestly see a situation where the guy cast has no visual similiarity to Stange whatsoever, but when he comes out of makeup with the hair and beard applied it'll look like Strange has walked right off the printed page.

Oh, you want Daniel Day-Lewis I see. ;)

Fine then. Jensen Ackles for Dr. Strange!!!!!

Yeah, it's actually laugh-out-loud funny that a lot of fancasters don't even consider the fact that razors, wigs, hair dye and accent coaches actually exist in this day and age. Hard to believe, I know.

You're talking to a community that clung onto Billy Zane as their top casting choice for Lex Luthor for decades, YEARS after he stopped being any kind of substantial presence in Hollywood, solely because of the fact that he was bald and had played villains before.

That's the same community that refuses to accept Jesse Eisenberg as Luthor because Jesse *isn't* bald. :hehe:
