How about Mark Strong?

Doctor Strange really has the best casting net of any Marvel character. Any actor 40-55 is on the table, and that's honestly the biggest sweet spots for great actors right now.

Just throwing a name out that i think would fit Strange...Alexander Skarsgard. He's got the right mix of physical skills, a brooding demeanor, the wit to cut through that dark persona and he's in the right age and fame bracket where he would be on marvels radar.

I edited the original list to add Isaac, Sheen, Skarsgard and Strong. The list is in alpha order for the sake of fairness. Someone said Liam Neeson wasn't mentioned, but he has been by several people and was always on the revised list.


So now we have twenty-five choices for a new poll. Polls here can have up to 40 options, I believe, so if anyone wants to throw other (credible) names out there, they can be added. Since this thread was started five years ago I am going to ask the mods if a new poll can be started that uses the updated list. This thread is on its last legs, anyway. Post additional actors you'd like to see play Stephen Strange, and if I get permission to post a new poll thread they'll be added.


Now I have to decide whether the poll should be multiple choice. Thoughts?

I liked Viggo for Dr. Strange but honestly I think he's a bit too old now.

Richard Armitage just occurred to me as a good choice for Doctor Strange. He is in the right age range, has the right look and definitely has the charisma and acting chops for the role. Armitage also has worked with Marvel, albeit in a minor role in Captain America. Very few people will remember him from that so it won't be a big deal.

Actually, I can really dig it. Most people don't remember him from Captain America anyways, I think it could work.
