Well, he's not related to Amy in any way and anyone the Doctor potentially gets involved with will be centuries younger than him.

Concerning the Daleks I think its best if they do get a break, I mean they have been overused a lot and to be honest I always got the sense in victory that they weren't coming back for a couple of seasons and would be rebuilding their empire and forces in order to return to their status before the Time War.

Concerning the Daleks I think its best if they do get a break, I mean they have been overused a lot and to be honest I always got the sense in victory that they weren't coming back for a couple of seasons and would be rebuilding their empire and forces in order to return to their status before the Time War.

Moffat was right to say that the overuse of the Daleks had diminished them as a threat. Their recent appearances haven't been of the top order, either. Their CGI flight ability made them seem less physical; trundling metal killing machines are somehow more believable than floating golden pepper pots. Furthermore, the human-Daleks were obviously a fiasco. What a way to dent their prestige! It was the equivalent of making the Sea Devils appear in bikinis. The new giant swimming pool friendly Daleks were a reasonable attempt to bring something new to the design, but I think the result was unsatisfactory. Rusting paintwork and the squelching sound of the Kaled writhing inside could make a Dalek seem more creepy. Simply making it bigger and louder had the opposite effect.

This seems to be a problem common to a lot of the re-invented classic monsters. The Cybermen are too clean and knightly in appearance. We need to be helped to imagine the rotting sub-human form hidden behind the silver mesh and plates. Ditto the Silurians: the orginals looked totally alien but were highly intelligent. They wore no clothing. The new ones are just scaly green people, with every human habit and most of our cultural norms. It's not scary or impressive. The new Silurians looked like they had stepped off Deep Space 9, not like they were an ancient race who had been hidden for millennia under the crust of the Earth.

I fear that the Rutans might appear wearing baseball caps. The Cybermen need to be grimed up (and given more personality), and the Silurians need to lose their clothes and regain their third eyes. But it is absolutely right to rest the Daleks until they can make a surprise return in a more impressive and deadly form.

This seems to be a problem common to a lot of the re-invented classic monsters. The Cybermen are too clean and knightly in appearance. We need to be helped to imagine the rotting sub-human form hidden behind the silver mesh and plates.

That's probably why the Cyberman attacking Amy in the Pandorica Opens was so effective.

I could very well be wrong, but I think the original thread was "Doctor Who" and the Thread Manager managed (heh) to confuse everyone with a new thread titled "Doctor Who - Part 1".

The original thread was The NEW Doctor Who or something like that. Then the Hype implemented a rule where all threads close at 10,000 posts, so we got our second Doctor Who thread. Then Thread Manager came in, and gave us Part 1 (our third), Part 2 (our fourth), and now Part 3 (our fifth).

We're on our fifth Doctor Who thread. Break out the celery stalks, the clever alien girl, the annoying companion, another annoying companion, the annoying companion who's gonna die, and the American chick with the nice breasts.

With the Daleks returning I reckon the most we'll see is the red 'drone' daleks more than any of the rest with like the others acting as leaders or head of the operations, so it might not look all that cheesy with the colours. I'd like them to look a bit more battered when they return so it looks like they have been battling lately.

I'm not sure how the daleks can look scary though or seem more of a threat though. I think after time they can seem more of a threat but I think they needed to darken them a little to make them scarier, the daleks have become more novelty then a threat something I don't think time will fix they kind of need to push the limits with the daleks yet not too far. Also I agree with the flying thing I don't think it needs to go, them hovering up stairs n **** tha can stay but flying through a city thats gotta go.
