who ever replaces amy is going to have a terrible job in doing so

it will be rose/martha all over again

only this time it will be a decent and well thought out character being replaced rather than a fangirls mary sue

If Amy were to die, it would be interesting to see Rory stay on and try to rebuild himself.

That would be intriguing and powerful to show him dealing with his grief. However its unlikely as its sort of emotionally unrealistic for someone to stay adventuring with the doctor when their wife has just died as a consequence of their travels. Which would be a shame because I really like Rory. He's one of the best companions in the entire series.

Unless Rory feels he has nothing for which to return to Britain in 2011. The Doctor might keep him in his care as an act of friendly compassion.

It could be a really interesting character arc. Perhaps, further down the line, Rory would part company with the Doctor to settle down with an alien girl on a distant planet.

Hey, Martha was lovely. Leave her alone!

Martha I'm afraid couldn't act for toffee. And I'm not really that attracted to her either so she gets a full thumbs down from me.

that may be in your opinion, but rose like amy is hugely popular and to follow that is going to extremely hard

though thankfully for this time its for being a decent character rather than like i said a mary sue

The prequel clip is region locked!!! You can't enter it!

Steven Moffat: "Who fans abroad - the prequel is region-locked cos you haven't seen ep 6 yet!"

We are "Fan Victorious"! and we're going to break the region lock! To youtube!!

No need to see the prequel anyway, it sucks more than 90% of RTD's Who stories.

So I checked out that Eleventh Doctor appearance on SJA out of curiosity and it was really weird to see Smith working with RTD styled characterization.

The Time War came up again and the Doctor momentarily got all moody again and there was that moronic bit about the Tenth Doctor having actually revisited ALL of his companions before regenerating not just the RTD-era one's and then more moping about the Tenth Doctor dying with Sarah Jane asking if the Tenth Doctor was alright in the end when Eleven should have said, "No he went out blubbering like a baby,"

Smith managed to elevate it when he could past the usual RTD era stuff but it makes you realize how much better Ten could have been with stronger writing.

And apparently Ian and Barbara are now immortal. Whatever.

the prequels are on youtube. both of them. and if I had to lay bets on a companion dying it would be Rory and he will be killed by River. Lots of good discussion about this current season over at the Den of Geek,AICN and the Fark showbiz tab. Some pretty clever speculation there.

If I had to bet on what's going on and who the big bad is I'd guess we're going to see the return of Omega. He had planned on programming the baby with his "DNA" (the data that creates the gangers) but I think the Doctor interrupted his data stream and replaced it with the "DNA" of the Doppledoc.

UGH! I swear, if I read one more nonsensical Omega theory...

Anyway, I'm not so sure Amy or Rory will die. "Curse of the Black Spot" was an episode that was supposed to air with the second half of the series, but got pushed up with a few rewrites. Either that episode got a major overhaul, or it was always supposed to have Amy & Rory in it.

The prequel doesn't reveal a huge amount anyway. For anyone not seeing ep6 yet it might not make any sense is all. Main purpose is to big up the Doctor, fear his wrath, etc.

I've got Valeyard theories if you're interested. :woot: :p

I can take the Valeyard theories. The Dream Lord's presence in series 5 would at least serve as a clue. The Omega theories are based off of nothing.

"What? Oh... always with the Omega!"

But Amy is also the Rani. And so is River. And Aunt Sharon. And Rose. And Donna.

Pretty much every female character except for Rani from SJA.

So does that mean that we're going to get Doctor/Rani music videos on YouTube now?
