does anyone besides me have no faith?

Yea, yes most of the rumors have been crap for casting on the film but we should wait and see what we end up getting in the end. If some of the rumored people end up being the cast if i dont like they i will wait a bit to fully judge them untill i see footage, set photos/ in suit photos to see if i still dont like them or not.

Do u think theres a chance this movie wont happen? I mean they are postponed because of the strike, but did they get a script yet? What if they dont approve a script that is written and by that time Batman 3 is on its way as well as a new superman movie? Can WB get this off the ground?

I can't decide if it's hopeful thinking on my part or not, but I think there's a big chance that this won't get off the ground. It just sounds like something that wouldn't happen.

As for Routh as Superman, check ou the store on the main Hype page! :wow:

well some people dont think it will happen on its rumored feb 11th start date due to HR/Variety articles but miller himself have said the script wasnt affected by the writers strike and the film is set to go. Then there is some of the rumored people are at a sydney hotel as we speak and the emi lady over at iesb/countingdown keeps saying her trusted sources say the film is set to go and the only issue right now is possibly one or two heroes havent been signed yet.

I don't really have any faith in this film--but not so much because of the logical reasons stated in this forum.

JLA is a huge undertaking, and as fantasy films go, high quality fantasy films are very rare. Hell, as comicbook films go, high quality comicbook films are extremely rare. I just don't see this one working out well at all.

The potential, as with all comicbook films, is extraordinary. But honestly, how many comicbook films have ever really lived up to their potential. There are so many natural obstacles to this film that I honestly don't see how they will overcome them.

Hollywood has yet to prove they can get single character comicbook films right consistently, how in the world am I to believe they can get an ensemble comicbook film right.

With the exception of the great comicbook films, Hollywood simply seems reluctant to get people who actually understand or "get" these characters to work on these films.

True, it is very early, but skepticism is more than justified.

I have not had a drop of faith in this movie from the start. Every single last piece of info I hear about it only strengthens my lack of faith, save one thing, the script is apparently phenomenal.

However, that will mean dick all with a young cast and everything we've heard about the direction of the film.

Flash is married in the script for ****'s sack, and they're looking at someone who's, what, eighteen at the most?

Besides having no wish to watch this movie..I've heard that hte guy cast as Superman might have the next movie deal as well...so CAVILL...I really don't care about this movie or the other characters..

Well there is two flash's barry who is the married one and wally the younger one.

My money's on Welling at this point. My money is also on him being considered out of the running, and then back in at least two more times before anything's official.

My faith in this movie is below zero and it has been ever since casting rumours started floating around. If this is seriously who they're considering (teen heartthrobs from The OC, Aussie reality TV stars, unsuccesful rappers) for the "greatest superhero team" on earth, they're absolutely insane.

If WB comes out tomorrow and says "The casting slate is clean, no one rumoured has any of those parts", my faith will rise to like 20%, but as it stands...

I'm on the fence right now, but some *real* news would help me to lean one way or the other.

I have no faith with Justice League Movie and Warner Bros, and will never have at all. Having Justice League Movie is a bad idea.

I found this article today and thought it ironically appropriate for this thread.
http://www.news.com.au/mercury/story/0,22884,23011968-3462,00.html

Motorcycle enthusiast Bertrand Cadart (59) is currently the mayor of Glamorgan Spring Bay Council in Australia. Back in 1979...

...he received a call out of the blue.

"This guy said 'I have been sent away by the entire motorcycle industry as a lunatic and I have been told the only one who can help me with my project is you. I am George Miller and I want to shoot a bikie movie, but I don't know anything about motorbikes'," Mr. Cadart recounts.

The movie was Mad Max -- then just a far-fetched idea with a no-name cast and a pitiful budget.

Miller wanted Mr. Cadart to design the post-apocalyptic motorcycles that would eventually be idolized by the film's legion of avid fans. He was also asked to act as an adviser on all the motorcycle scenes in the film.

No one believed the movie would ever be finished, let alone become a success, so he and his business partner demanded payment up front.

"We all thought it would be one of those Z-grade movies you see for years in open-air cinema in the Congo," Mr. Cadart said.

As part of the deal he was given a bit-part as Clunk, one of the bikies who roamed the outback roads...
:p ;)

Eh, I'm not sold on George Miller although I think the man has talent. But geez, he made 2 movies over 20 years ago that people consider very good/great. But what has he done the past 10 years? He didn't even direct the first "Babe", he directed the sequel, "Babe: Pig in the City". And "Happy Feet"? Where is his great/iconic movie of the past 5 to 10 years. I see nothing I am that impressed with.

George Lucas directed Star Wars ep 4 and most people would consider that to be an extraordinary film. But he can't keep hanging his hat on that. Most people give him hell now for Star Wars ep 1, 2 and 3. So, I don't think it's right to hang our hopes on the director of 2 "very good" films that are over 20 years old. I'm sorry but I need something more recent to show me he can deliver something extremely special. There are plenty of other more talented directors that should be handling this project.

I hear ya. Frankly, I don't know what sold Warners on Miller. I realize HF was quite a cash cow for them, but his being attached to JL did come out of the blue.

Regardless, I think they're taking a chance with any director. Look at what we got when they hired Singer - a director who had demonstrated success with big budget live action comic book films. You have to wonder if they weren't beating themselves upside the head for not going with a director like Michael Bay. SR would have been pummeled by critics for being nothing more than ballz to the wallz action, but I'd bet ya it would have delivered the bank at the B.O. Which of course, is what Hollywood's interested in.

Are there better directors out there? Definitely. There's always going to be some risk though, no matter who they hire. Of course, Miller is a self professed comic book nut, so maybe that will count for something in the end. Who knows? LOL

It's a good thing they didn't go with Michael Bay, he makes junk food cinema, it tastes good at first, but 5 minutes later, you feel like throwing up. I'd so prefer Miller, or hell, anyone other than Bay to do Justice League.

I don't know.:(

I want to have faith in this, I really do. I'm willing to give it a chance, definitely, but I'm not going to get my hopes up, by any means.

Someone please try and address the Green Lantern issue and why it's a good idea.

the reason why this movie is being fast tracked is because this movie is awesome and a sure fire hit!

no other explanation, think about it people...... its warner brothers

First of all it likes to be said that I have been following the Justice League threads on this board for four months now, but abstained from posting something myself due to my lack of knowledge regarding the english language. However, in regard of the crap some found themselves fit to spread around here, certain things can no longer be kept to myself.
Yes, I am talking about all those JL bashers like FlawlessVictory and many more, who seem to have nothing better to do, then rant on *everything* regarding this movie. You do not want to watch this movie, you think it is going to be horrible, even though *nothing* has been edged into stone so far but the fact, that Warner Bros. is planing to do it. Well fine. Don't watch it. Tell others, how you are not going to watch it, if you have to. But what about them twenty postings per day, where you do nothing else, than telling everybody, wheter they like to hear it or not, how incredibly horrifying Justice League is going to be and that you do not want to watch it? I think EVERYBODY got it by now, so for heaven's sake stop it already!
How blinded are you to think, that you know what the "average movie-goer" is going to think about this or that decision better than the suits over at WB or in the movie's production itself, who do these things for a living? Have you ever thought about that the way, you would handle things does only feel right, for it is *your* way, and not, because it is the general genuine one? One can not please everybody and this movie will neither, so deal with it.
You have a problem with Christian Bale and Brandon Routh probably not revisiting their respective roles from the single movies. Fine, but do you truly belive, that just because those two played Batman respectively Superman last, no one else can!? there are so many ways to interpret these characters and just becauce Bale and Routh where right for Nolans and Singers versions of Batman and Superman dosn't mean they would be for Millers too. Further more, you see your precious Superman Returns and Batman by Chris Nolan Vol. 3 endangered, though it has been abnegated by Warner Bros. *several* times, so you shut yourselves away from potentially liking the Justice League movie and jump on every bandwagon of news bit, telling it might yet not come to be, hoping, that those, who actually *want* to see it do not get their wishes granted.
It seems to be out of question, that Superman Returns was not for everyone the movie, he had been waiting for for twenty years. Also, there might be some fans, who might not identify themselves fully with Nolan's take on the Batworld, and do not worship Batman Begins - no matter how good it might have been - just because it took the franchise back into a more serious direction after Joel Schumacher brutally raped it with a smile on his face that would make The Joker gasp in awe.
Anyway, it is but positive that those movies were what you wanted them to be, but why have there to be countless sequels before others get, what *they* are hoping for? I for once prefer to see Batman and Superman when interacting with the JLA. Besides that, there have been countless Superman- and Batman movies by now. Isn't it past time, that guys like Green Lantern, Wonder Woman (okay, less guyish), Aquaman or Flash get their spot on the big screen? Not only does Justice League give us all of the above combined and at once, it also opens the possibility for future single adventures, like X-Men did for Wolverine over at that M place. But of course, the average fanboy who shudders to think of a Justice League movie without Bale or Ruth, believes, that those movies had to be made *before* the team flick, why ever that might be. Lack of imagination, one options to think. The thought, that GL, Flash or Aquaman might be successfully sold when appearing side by side with the well-established Superman of Batman is of course absolutely wrong.
Yet, there are said to be fans who have been waiting for *years* to watch both those heroes, and the Justice League combined in live action adventure. Now, WB has a shooting script, that was able to convince the Powers that be. Now, an a-list director could be attached to the project. Not to mention a top-notch crew. In the end, *now* is the once in a lifetime opportunity to *finally* get this thing going and make way for several connected flicks in the future. So why the hell should this chance not be taken? Because of Christian Bale or Chris Nolan? LOL!
Oh, right. There are still the actors, whose talents one feels free to judge by looking at their age, stature and experience. Stupid thought to maybe go and see how they are doing, instead of wishing them to hell before the cameras have even begun to roll. However, it is somewhat clear, that should this movie be made, and gain a certain amount of success, half the bashers around here are going to turn with the wind, while the rest will keep to their negative opinions in defiance. In the end, it is to be said, that those peoble are not worth the trouble, and thankfully, Warner Bros. seems to agree.

Excellent post. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it that way.

You should post more often :) Your english seems fine to me.

exactly how i feel bud.

I'll reserve judgement on this film, until i hear some information about the movie itself...ie, official castings, plot synopsis.. but my initial reaction to the announcement of the undertaking of this project was two fold.

a) why now? -- in the middle of a contemporary batman run? not to mention the return of superman to the big screen. and then to not use the actors associated with the title roles in each of the respective franchises. ???

b) -- they are in over their head -- how do you propose to develop all of these characters in 2 1/2 hours?

how do you propose to develop all of these characters in 2 1/2 hours?

You cant, there's just not enough screen time to do justice to and develop 7 characters.
