I'm writing a script at the moment that involves a fifth grader and those stupid aptitude tests because I remember when I was kid in elementry school, every year we'd take aptitude tests. I'd like to do some reading on them so I do them justice in my story.

I think they differ state-to-state. Like, mine were the IOWA tests, but I was living in Virginia.

Royale w/ cheese.

Yeah it depends on where you are. Mine was the PSSA tests and lived in Pennsylvania.

Well I went to catholic school 4th-6th grade and a public school K-3rd Grade... I don't remember if they were different tests or not, I just remember getting a score back at least when I was in the 5th grade. I just want know what the grading system is, I think it was out of hundred but it was so long ago :(

The ones in California, at least in my area, were called the CTBS tests.

is your script called "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"?

It varies wildly by time period, and by state. In New Jersey, for half of elementary school, we took CATs (California Aptitude Tests). 5th and 6th grade, the district shifted over to the TerraNova tests. This was the mid-90s. Meanwhile, my parents took the Iowa Test, which some states still do.

I'd say just make up a name that sounds legit, there are too many to bother figuring out and they change all the time.

I simply wanted to know the grading system... Which set up nicely for my scene... Nah, my script's about Jews, Italians, and Illegitimate children! :D
