Sequels Does Cyclops need recasting?

If they started a fresh, and we had a whole new cast I'd like to see an older guy with a bit more presence playing old one eye!
I've always seen Cyclops as being pretty buff, and he HAS to be able to tower over Logan. It just didn't work when he was trying to threaten him from down there.

Keep Marsden as the guy never really got a chance. Any oppertunity his character could of got shine was stolen so fox could give wolverine more fight sequences. I would of loved to see Cyke blasting at tons of eneimes coming at him like those disks in the first film, or him using his powers different ways like in the comics.

@Goddessreicho - He looks a little bit like James but he's too young. If James would not come back maybe they can put CGI on his face to make him look like James.j/k:woot:

But I really think James Marsden is just right for the Cyclops role. One of the problems is that Fox favored Wolverine so much and made Wolverine much prettier and more taller than Cyclops.

Damn they look similar. I thought that first pic was Marsden. He'll work if he can act, but I must ask why get a similar looking actor if you wanna recast JM?? I doubt JM will be that busy with the Superman sequel. He needs to stay, and to be more to the point I blame Singer for Cyke's poor treatment.

will, I was thinking if they in fact wanted to include Cyclops in the next movie, but Marsden couldn't return, (or didn't want to) it would make scent to get a look-a-like, instead of just recasting someone with a new look, though, like I said I don't really like recasts, I would just prefer them to keep him die, if they can't get Marsden back. (I was just mentioning, Justin Bruening, as a good look-a-like, as for his acting, he's mostly just a soap actor right now, so, I don't know)

now that i think of it, instead of using him as a replacement look-a-like to bring back the character from the dead, maybe they could just use him as a young scott in a few flash back scenes, just a thought

Personally, I think James Marsden was a fantastic Cyclops, and he was one of the best things in X-Men The Last Stand. Despite the amount of screen time he was given, he still did an excellent job and acted superbly. I certainly do not want to see him recast with another actor if X-Men 4 is made.

Yeah b/c it's logical Fox doesn't care about him one bit. They didn't even want him in X3.

You know, I probably would've liked it better had he not been in the flick at all than the 1:30 pre-mortem minute we got... :(

The problem with Marsden's Cyclops is that he simply wasn't the star and was for all intent and purposes treated like a throw-away character by Singer. We never got to see if Marsden did a good or bad job--he was never around long enough. I really wanted to see Cyclops take the lead in these films but.....

Reboot. Start fresh. New actors. New faces, with a closer resemblance to the characters.

More like a throwaway character by Fox.

I agree, as the leader of the team the films hould have been centred more around him than Wolverine!

I also think that placing Hugh Jackman opposite him was a poor choice in casting! For Cyclops to work well, Wolverine needs to be a small ugly runt with a nasty attitude - not a better looking, bigger guy!

It's a shame because Cyclops can be such an interesting character in the right hands.

but poor cyke will never have his chance.. only good news is that he's getting much more character development in the comics (astonishing x-men)... certainly one of the best character in that arc

I think James was wrong for the role anyway..he just dosen't look,to me, like cyclops.

I always thought he looked perfect for the role...Cyclops doesn't have that emotive quality, because you can't see his eyes, so his face always had that square-cut jaw, and brooding side...Marsden is visually perfect for the role as well as emotionally capable, had they given his a legitimate story...his performance at the climax of X2 was amazing.

If Cyke ever comes back, does he need recasting?

No. Marsden portrayed him perfectly, and FOX would be making another huge mistake if they let him go (if there was an X4).

I would still rather have Marsden to play Cykes. :cyclops:

The only one that picked himself up on his own, actually. :D

Whedon's one of the few who got the idea that Cyke isn't a boy-scout behind closed doors. :D

And yeah, he'll probably only be another potential team leader's bi*** in the movies. :(

Throwaway character was too generous, Magick. ;)
