I know i used to have that sucker...

what an awesome cover!

The sentry has potential. The major problem is that after making him god like, they forgot that unlike Dc, they lack godlike enemies to fight with. Though yeah SI was dissappointing in his actions. They could have done anything else but no he's gotta go out like that. Though as we've seen though, The sentry is only one flip of the coin. The otherside has major balls(gay given his actions but balls)
Marvel has plenty of similarly powerful people for the Sentry to fight. The problem is they're just not hanging around Earth all the time and they decided to put Sentry on the Avengers.

I think if Paul Jenkins didn't go over board with the hyperbole with the whole "Power of A Million Exploding Suns" and fans didn't take everything so literally, most folks wouldn't have a problem with the Sentry and Marvel would be able to "depower" him sufficiently enough that he wouldn't have to be so powerful. Also, the "feet of clay" he was given has made him such a complex character to write, most writers have to find away to get him off the board in their stories, because like most people have said, he could theoretically end, at least, the physical conflict by himself.

He's a drug addict that got to become a god and now whines a lot. He's really not that complex, he's basically freak but he got to take the good drugs.

Too powerful and too emo.

That's a recipe for sucking right there.

Get the right writer on him and make him very relevant. JMS could have made Sentry a star! And there are villians that can give him a good fight. Count Nefarious is just one. Plus I think if they can separate him from the Void it can weaken him substantially as well as give him a enemy who can hang with him. Thing is, Bendis seems to be getting the bulk of the time writing him and puts him against villians and does crazy stuff with them. IE, Dr. Doom, Carnage, the skrulls..........

yes he sucks........................am sorry for calling you a mary sue rogue but sentry has to be the most annoying gary stu ever

HE SUCKS SO MUCH HE MAKES EDWARD CULLEN LOOK GOOD

I don't think he sucks. I do think, however, that the writers took him in the completly wrong direction.

^Actually it was bumped this month...

I think Sentry could of been good. A mega powerful hero AND villain with psychological problems? Pretty interesting... if in the hands of a writer who knows how to do that sorta stuff.

Bendis was not that writer, unfortunately.

Someone like Mark Waid or even Grant Morrison or Alan Moore could of done great things with Sentry.

Sentry had a brief moment, when he was introduced, that he was interesting. That was it.

Problems with Sentry:

- Too powerful, with ill-defined powers and limitations
- Lousy personality, and tends to whine alot
- Bad synergy with the whole Sentry/Void persona

The bottom line is, Sentry has too many issues as a superhero, but his greatest weakness of all is that he is simply uninteresting. I don't think such a character deserve to be on the same podium as the other Avengers like Capt. America, Thor, and Iron Man.

There is no bad or uninteresting characters really. Only characters that are written badly or uninterestingly.

Bendis was just completely out of his depth with a character like Sentry. Well personally, i think Bendis is completely out of his depth with characters that are not street level.

So wait let's back it the **** up to 2008 for a minute here

Like if Superman beat the piss out of every villain in the DCU, but in Lois' dress.

This would be like, the owningest ****ing thing Superman has ever done.

the next time they write thenselves into a hole they will bring him back for a quick fix and ruin the character all over again
