Infinity War Does Whatever a Spider Can - The Peter Parker/Spider-Man thread

Liked Spidey in this movie..but the "Hey Mr.Stark..." at the beginning of every sentence is quickly becoming intolerable.

Seconded. Hopefully he will be a little more confident in future appearances.

I’m surprised Parker didn’t try insta-kill mode. I’m guessing it’s probably just some sort of poisonous toxin that he shoots out.

This is the problem when you're trying to fit everything into one movie: some stuff is bound to be overlooked.

Also, I personally feel Marvel's really pushing it with the believability of Iron Man's and Iron Spider's abilities. Well, the abilities of the suits, obviously. Personally I feel adding 'nano-technology' doesn't explain anything and they start to rely ALOT on your suspension of disbelief. Even in a movie about a big purple guy trying to destray half of everything and a God and...

Agreed. I said something similar in another thread where the suits are starting to use Transformers logic when it comes to creating mass out of thin air.

Impressed in this movie, hopefully we get more of this next spider-man and less him sitting on fire exits speaking on phones and trying to force humor.

I loved when Stark "knighted him" "your an avenger now" :hehe:

What happened to all that cool stuff Spider-Man's outfit could do? Did the Iron Spider outfit just have repulsors and the extra legs?

I was actually curious about that. Civil War depicted Tony's suit as merely a professional replacement for Peter's homemade suit. Homecoming however, showed that it was actually high tech, with a HUD, AI, and web shooter variations.

In Infinity War, the classic suit isn't shown utilizing any of these functions at all. The Iron Spider suit, other than the legs, is no more advanced than Homecoming's depiction of the "classic" suit. The circumstances of Peter wearing the Iron Spider render it as an add-on to the classic suit instead of as a standalone suit; if the classic suit still had those functions then it's logical to think that by extension, the Iron Spider should have access to the same high tech functions on top of the legs and parachute as well, since Peter's wearing the Iron Spider suit on top of the classic suit. The only thing I can think of that would explain why the classic suit "downgraded" when we see how Peter uses it in Infinity War was because Tony took away the suit in Homecoming and decided to remove all the features before deciding to give it back to Peter after he's turned down the idea of being an Avenger at the end of that movie. But then that leaves the question of why the Iron Spider is "lacking", since Tony clearly designed the suit with "Peter as an Avenger" in mind, and if anything, it logically should have been depicted with the advanced features of the classic suit from how it was portrayed in Homecoming.

That makes me wonder if the Russos and writing team only wanted Tony's "classic suit" contribution to Peter to merely be in design and not so much "here's Iron Man Junior dressed up like Spider-Man."

I was happy about that. I really don’t like the idea of him being Iron Man jr. permanently.

The Russos grew up reading the comics hence the more traditional take in their movies

I totally forgot about it during this. It was something they had the AI mention twice in his movie, I was thinking it would lead to something. He didn't do any of the special webs in this though.

I doubt the insta kill would impact Thanos but would still want to see it in action.

How do you feel about Spidey killing Maw? Homecoming made it clear that this Peter doesn't want to kill anyone, and will even risk his life to save bad guys.

Do the same rules not apply to aliens, or was Maw just that dangerous that killing him quickly was the only way to save Strange?

how was the Stark/Peter Parker relationship in the comics?
Pretty close to Ultimate comice Spider-Man when Tony is assigned by Nick Fury to train Spidey. Stark was always Peter's idol in the Ultimate comics, he even gave him upgraded Webshooters towards the end

Technically, Iron Man killed him.

SPOILERS (please DO NOT READ until you've seen the film):

Who else is REALLY bummed out by Spidey's death in the film?
Not because of the death itself, but the execution of that scene. The worry and panic you hear in Peter's voice. He's just a kid! And Tony holds him in his last moments! It's so heartbreaking. Good lord. I feel empty after watching that part. It's taken a few hours for the film to sink in and having my favourite superhero of all time just 'fade' out of existence like that, and in such a scared way too, is really heartbreaking. Wow.

And also how great did it look when Spidey moved? Especially as he was swinging through NY, which we never got to properly see in Homecoming, but looked phenomenal in this!

I was so skeptical when they recast Spidey yet again, however Holland, and the folks behind this current Spidey have done an awesome job. The ending to IW was big, however Holland was the one that made it emotional. Like others experienced, there were a few folks in the theatre that I was at that yelled "no!" Kudos to Holland and the writing team.

Hard to call Holland the MVP of IW, however I think he is easily the unsung hero of the movie.

We... We're really at a point where there are fans that consider the ULTIMATE line "traditional " as opposed to the history of the "616" which literally goes back to WWII?

Where did he say the ultimate line was traditional?

I guess on a more superficial note, I pretty much want to start collecting any and all Iron Spider merchandise that I can.

I love this Iron Spidey suit much more than the comic book one.

Agreed. This iron spider suit looks so much better then the original iron spider suits from the comics. Damn I’m missing traditional red and blue though..

MCU has been drawing from the ultimates and other timeliness for quite a while now.

How tall is Holland? I read 5'7 or 5'6.

I recall Maguire was 5'7 1/2 and Garfield was shy of 5'11.

I kinda prefer a smaller Peter. A real underdog quality.

He looks out of his league next to say a 6'2 Quill/6'3 Thor.
