Comics Doesn't anyone else read Spider-Girl??

And that's pretty much it right there- will May depart from her code of ethics in order to bring the bad guy to justice. We all know that she won't, think that she won't, but what if she does allow Kaine to kill the Black Trantula? What if Kaine decides not to kill the Trantula if he does defeat him? Plus, the Trantula is not without resources either, so it will be interesting to see what goes down when those two finally square up. Quite frankly, SyderBurning is right- May will have to devote her full attention to Lady Ock, if she plans on bringing her down, and it shouldn't really be of any consequence to her what happens between them. I'm hoping that Tom will really bring out the very best in Lady Ock when she and May do battle, because she has been taking it light on May, and its' time for May to display all her skills & abilities! So i'm hoping that i'll be up to speed with the rest of you all that have the latest issue of Spider-Girl tommorrow!

One thing I still don't get.

The preview for the next issue says that Spider-Girl has a to decide where her loyalty lies when Kaine and BT fight to the death...

But May now knows why BT recruited her and that BT has been working with Carolyne... So... what's the problem?

Don't rely on the previews. The preview for issue 76 said that Raptor would confront the new woman in Normie's life, and that still hasn't happened.

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I don't remember what page of this thread it is on, so could anyone tell me which issue it is where they show the flashback of the fight that Peter and Norman had where Peter losses his leg? Is it #51? And I hope Lady Ock and May go at it all out next issue as well Blaque.

I'm almost positive it's issue #50.

#50 cool, thanks Marcd, I am going to see if they have that one next time I go to the comic book store.

Either way, as long as I know basically where it was at in the run I can look for it, so thanks again.

Thanks for the welcome, Blaque-Spiderman. Oh, and issue 49 is indeed the issue where the final battle with Spidey and the Green Goblin is shown in a flashback. I love that line Spidey says when he crashes in on Norman. "I would have brought some dip, but I knew that you were already here."

As long as you enjoyed the issue is all that matters, SLYspyda! That, and the fact that the cover to the issue was dynamite doesn't hurt either!

He certainly was. Tom's a fantastic writer. The latest issue was fantastic. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the cover. It looks nice, but it focuses only on the men with there being a shine on Spider-Girl's butt. The fans have fought to show that this title is fitting for girls too, and that cover doesn't help our cause. It also makes her look dark, and Spider-Girl always been a bright character. That cover would be better for someone with a dark, grim image like Batman.

give me a break. in most of the other titles, we have men in tights showing off their perfect physiques. isn't spidey girl hot? why shouldn't she get a cover showing her sexiness once in a while?

You obviously aren't really into Spider-Girl. Fans, especially those at the Spider-Girl message board, want to make this title appeal to females. They made the digest have a manga cover to appeal to girls (because manga is very popular with girls right now). There even was a Spider-Girl media blitz at her message board that had fans send out letters to newspapers and female magazines telling how this book is not made to make May look like a sex bomb. It's supposed to be appropriate for all ages.

By the way, the male characters are made muscular to make males like the characters. They want them to look powerful so they appear more cool. That's why action figures are ridiculously buff, and action figures and comics are much more popular with males.

hi Congo Kong. i agree, when i picked up this issue i noticed May's but and thought damn. wich i never do. i prefer to think of her like a daughter.

You know what would be really totally aswome??

Having May walk around topless and shooting webbing out of her nipples!

Yeah - I'm not anti-cheesecake, if it's done in moderation (... ha!), but though it wasn't the only draw, one of the things that got me into Spider-Girl in the first place was that it was so refreshing to find a lead female character whose female-ness wasn't turned into sexual currency. It's pretty hard to find - offhand, I can only thing of Runaways as another superhero title which presents the female characters at face value. All the others tend to stick in the cheesecake, even if at a rather subtle level.

i guess that's why fat dolls are really popular with little girls? because girls never care about how they look.

Parker, you're fired! What's this?? Webbing from her...it's time for you to find a new hobby buddy! (LOL!)

Well if i may be the voice of reason on this controversial debate, with regards to the latest issue cover, i personally didn't view the cover in that manner, and futhermore- now that you guys have brought it up, i took another look to see if its' as bad as some may see it, and IMO it isn't. I say this because i've come to know the character, and what she represents. The cover is tastefully done, yeah- her buttcheeks have a glow to 'em, but it's nothing that screams, "I'm too sexy for this costume!" (LOL!). Once you know the character of May Parker, you can overlook stuff like this. She's still a growing young lady, and she definitely more Peter Parker than Mary Jane Parker at this stage in her life! So she hasn't matured into her sensuality yet, she's only 16 for crying out loud! Think of Molly Ringwald in "16 Candles", and you have May Parker....but with the proportionate strength, speed, and ability to cling to walls- of a spider.

Also- hasn't she done a similar pose in the old red & blues? I don't think it was a cover, but i know that since Ron has been drawing her, i recall seeing her in that same pose. One more thing, after looking at the cover again, i'm really focused more on the costume, instead of the now infamous "glowing buttocks"! I certainly understand some of your concerns, but there's no need for alarm, May is a superhero, and she's not quiting to become "Americas' Next Top Model". (Although she could...)

The reason it bothered me was because of the Spider-Girl media blitz. One of our strongpoints was to show that May isn't made to appeal only to men. We got published in several newspapers too, and a magazine is still in the works. Were you involved, Blaque?

Anyway, I'm willing to look past it. It's a great cover, but it just isn't fitting for Spider-Girl IMO.

As i said before, i understand where you were coming from CK, and i know why you felt the way you did- you're not only a fan of the comic, but an advocate for it as well. But i feel like the cover isn't setting a bad example, and again, done tastefully. But i respect everyones opinion.
