Doomsday is today!

I give it 6/10 it s an ok movie. I which they didn't do the superman clone it was boring. i really liked the superman vs Doom battle. Good animation but the drawing was poor.

It's called character designs.

The character designs were poor. I get that Timm was trying to go for something different from his DCAU designs, but the lines used to define facial features and lighting/shadowing were overdone. Lex looked like he was wearing a mask. Like someone said earlier, Superman looked like he came from a knife fight. Timm should've learned his lesson from JL; the last time he tried to add too much detail to Superman's face, he looked old.

is it me, or are the ads for this movie were fairly lackluster?

I didn't see one commerical for it. I don't see alot of ads online either.

The lines on Superman's face was the only disappointing aspect for me.

The other character designs I actually really liked. Especially Lois'.

I watched the first 10 minutes and so far I'm.....dissapointed .

I'll watch the rest tonight.

I just thought the animation didn't look any better than the animated series, and I really hate those stupid lines on Superman's face. What a crappy way to differentiate it from the Timmverse.

Why couldn't they move towards more realistic proportioning instead? Lois with her massive head and tiny body belongs in a Bratz cartoon.

Oh well, hopefully the story and voice acting will be good. (Not so crazy about Anne Heche so far)

Well after watching the rest of the movie I actually ended up enjoying it quite a bit. It felt substantially more adult than the cartoon series, and was actually quite moving at some times.

Still hate those stupid cheek lines, but overall I'm pleased.

I've come to expect more from Bruce Timm, and in recent years am starting to think that he's highly, highly overrated in this field.

He IS overrated. When you watch Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker who's name is in the credits? Paul Dini. When you watch Superman Doomsday who's name is not in the credits? Paul Dini.

There ya go.

I don't know when I'll get to buy this.

Timm and Dini pretty much need each other. Timm made a disappointing Superman movie without Dini, and Dini... well, Countdown.

Well that was interesting. Good fights, surprisingly violent (people actually get killed in cold blood). The story was good but I don't get why they called it Superman: Doomsday since Doomsday is obviously not the focal point in the movie. Had they called it Death of Superman it would have made far more sense.

My favourite scene was the one where the Clone walks into the beauty shop simply because I had NO idea what he wanted to do. Took me completely by surprise. I thought he was going to punish every woman in there for being a slave to their own image. :) And the end was great: "A safe Superman is a safe Metropolis". Soooo corny. :)

Why did they push the Lex- Superman relationship so far? Lex was never THAT obsessed with Superman, I'd expect something like that from Joker regarding Batman but not Lex. James Marsters as Lex was the only GOOD voice acting in the movie for me, the rest were lackluster. Anna Heche started out terrible but she got better.

I give it a 7,5 out of 10. I would give it an 8 but I feel Superman's return overall was pretty cheap. Oh, and who WAS that robot?

I thought it was on the money with certain adaptations. He reminded of Smallville's Lex a lot.

What we missed was just a reason for Lex's motivations.

Smallville has Luthor's twisted jealousy of Clark's life.

Superman Returns has Luthor's desire for revenge after losing 5 years of his life.

But when I think of Smallville and Superman Returns I think more of Lex's obession with Kryptonian things and how and why a man can do the things he can (him investigating the ship in Smallville and creating a whole lab and in SR his speech about how gods are selfish beings who dont share there secrets with the world or something like that)

You're right, it's about power, not about real estate. :o

So I've watched it a few times over the past few days and continue to love it more. The Doomsday fight has to be the greatest Superman fight ever on film and still has an emotional weight to it. After that I think Lois, Martha and Lex carried the story pretty well till Superman came back. I also like the voice acting, Ann was good and the creepy Lex was an interesting take.

I really hope that this and the next few DC releases do well in sales so they'll take risks and make other huge stories and longer movies. I would love to see Kingdom Come or The Long Halloween in animation.

I watched it, and something really confuses me. Why the heck has Superman long hair? Wasn't he only gone for a couple of weeks? His long hair makes it look like as if he was gone for half a year.

i will tell you why. because it was in the comics.

Maybe the accelarated absorbtion of sunlight influenced his hari growth somehow. :)

Yes, but you have to understand...you're an idiot.

Man, I really LOL on that one! I give you 2   for that one! Completely agree with your statement. Dude is just finding a way to bash anything Marvel.

Anyway, I bought the dvd and it's..............ok.........like someone stated earlier, borderline crap. SMTAS was better than this and I was really disappointed with this movie. And was this a prequel to the JLA? Why did he look so much older than usual but yet............noone knows about him and Lois? Anyway, I would rent this. It's nothing like the original comic at all. :o

It's not a prequel to JLA, it's not even the same continuity.

He doesn't look older on purpose, they changed his face to distinguish him from the regular DCAU Superman and yeah, they did a pretty terrible job.

No one knows about him and Lois cause no one knows. They're only together in his Fortress of Solitude.

Yeah but............it's common knowledge about them in TAS. So is this a prequel to that?

I still hate the idea that everytime an adaptation of something is slightly off or has no continuity from one stream in a comic line, people need to call it a mullti-verse, alternate universe or even say its out of continuity. I dont know if its a forced geek shyt or the writers of the comics killing and rebuilding universes so much to remedy plotholes.....
