Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 1

I actually despised the ending of the book. For me, it went downhill after Mason's death, and the love-plot felt like it was imported from a ero-fan-fic on the internet.

Yea, I never bought Clarice ending up romantically with Hannibal. It felt like fanfiction.

That ending taints the whole book for me.

Any chances the season to end with the famous Will catching Hannibal, and next season we have Hannibal behind bars ala Silence of the Lambs?

Repost my question...

I do wonder if Harris hadn't seen it coming either, until he wrote it. Sometimes when you are banging out pages, your muse takes you places you didn't expect. :(

Hannibal running off with Clarice was horrible I could see Hannibal having a little crush on Clarice but her feeling the same way is disturbing.

Even bad guys have feelings too. :p

It worked for Joker and Dr Harleen Quinzel

That speaks more to Harleys charactr who is a emotional macohist along with being a sociopath. Clarice to my knowledge has no psychological issues for Hannibal to play on unlike Joker has with Harley.

Nope. Red Dragon is season 4, and Silence will be seasons 5 & 6. According to Fuller, season 2 will be about the disillusion of Will and Hannibal's relationship.

So, we will never see it. Let's face it, it will be a miracle if the show does survive to season 4.

Detective John Luther and Serial Killer Abby Morgan have a will they won't they creepy romance thing as well

I am more looking forward to the trial of Hannibal then he can drop the facade of normalcy he has been wearing. I can't wait to see people fainting in the courtroom after realizing they ate human flesh or Jack finding the killer of his trainee.

^This.

I'm waiting for Mad's portrayal to take off his "well tailored person suit".

Honestly, I'm not sure how huge a difference it will be.

Hannibal isn't really the type to ever be a raving maniac wriggling around in a straitjacket.

I think with Hopkins version of Lector you had the overly creepy performances in RD and SotL and the more subdued manner from Hannibal. Though perhaps that's more down to Ridley Scott doing his own thing for that film and Ratner trying to imitate SotL.

Here's hoping it sees season 2. Ratings are not that good. They really don't promote this show that well at all.

Maybe not a huge difference, but a difference none the less.
Like in the opening few minutes of Red Dragon, us, the audience, is aware of his act. After that office mess, then we return to seeing what we expect.

I haven't read SOTL or Hannibal, I know they reference Graham in passing.
After Lecter's escape, we know he paid a visit to Chilton in SOTL, has there is ever been any wonder if Lecter would visit the now, [BLACKOUT]drunken mess and facially scarred Graham[/BLACKOUT]?

I'm thinking once he takes off that mask he'll be free to be his true self. With the psychological poking and prodding. Hannibal is really proud of what he's done fitting into high society, killing all those people, eating them, and then feeding them to his guest. This is a gag he really wants to let the rest of the world in on and when he does its going to be glorious.

His character is always so calm, collected, and in control that just smile and giggle a bit would be very unsettling.

I recall reading a post from a member on imdb (I know, I know) "Hannibal tv series" message board, back BEFORE the renewal was announced, that we shouldn't worry too much about canceling because the cast etc. signed on for 39 episodes (aka 3 seasons) and then we see. Of course, he/she didn't reply how he/she knew that, because no one recalled reading it somewhere, but I wish it was true.. Here it is:
Well, maybe if you looked into the way the show is produced you'd understand the NBC ratings hardly matter. This is NOT an American show, despite overwhelming American involvement. It doesn't matter if it tanks and NBC doesn't pick it up there WILL be a minimum of 3 thirteen episode seasons we will all have access to. After that, if the show is a hit than we'll probably get a total of 7 seasons......They creative team, the talent, and the finances are all in place and everyone went into the show with the understanding that they will be shooting 39 episodes (three, thirteen episode seasons): Season 1: Hannibal meets Will; Season 2: Hannibal loses Will; Season 3: Hannibal and Will clash. with a 4th season (a re-telling of Red Dragon) also planned.
If he were allowed to go on after that Fuller would like to do: season 5: SOTL; Season 6: Hannibal; Season 7: An as-yet unwritten conclusion.

And I recall a very early interview of Hetienne Park (Beverly) saying a season 2 is sure, and then Fuller was quick to say "no, it's not sure yet" on twitter and the "party" of "will it be renewed or not?" began..Which makes me think what I already believed all that time, that they knew all along they weren't "in danger" and just let the fans be desperate with passion for the show.

Also, I wonder: if the "3 seasons agreement" is sure, is there a possibility they will go on touching the books if given the chance, or they intend to stop there? With Hannibal's capture? I guess we will have to just wait and see..But I have the hunch that, at best, they will stop after season 4. As there is also the MGM rights issue..

Anyway, sorry for the long post, I just had to mention this.

Well, I don't know that signing an agreement means all the show you agreed to appear in will actually get made. I am sure plenty of shows got cancelled in spite of folks saying they wanted to keep being in them.....
