I thought he had revealed in an earlier conversation that he didn't fear death. I was reminded of this when I was watching the same scene.Looking back at the episode, I love that the entire time Hannibal was hanging from the meat hook, he wasn't the least bit concerned about his fate. He was so at ease, he looked genuinely interested in whatever nonsense happened to be coming out of Verger's mouth.
I really want to see the reaction from Hannibal when Will turns on him. I feel like he's truly integrated himself as Hannibal's friend, probably the only one he's ever had.
The conversation that Gillian Anderson character had with Jack Crawford implied to me that he knows Will is playing him.
