Horror Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 5

Nah, s'okay Mads, just go be in Star Wars. :o

EDIT: Holy butts, I was joking. I didn't realize Mad Mikkelsen is actually in Star Wars.

So Steve Lightfoot just got Punisher on Netflix, and in the same week, Mads says he won't return to TV unless it's Hannibal. Hm...

With as much as everyone involved loved being a part of Hannibal, if it was something you could find a way to revisit, at some point, would you?

DANCY: Oh, totally. Bryan [Fuller] has got plenty on his plate and everybody is busy, which is fantastic, but I think we’re in a place where we can say, “Okay, let’s see what happens in four years.” If we’re able to revisit it, maybe it would be different. I don’t know what shape it would take. I’ve said many times, and it’s completely true, that I would love that. If we were able to come back, maybe taking a few years away for it to reform itself might be the best thing that could happen for it. I certainly think it’s warranted, just by where we got to in the story. Sure, you could start a fourth season, or whatever it would be, with a big splash and see what happens when they hit the water, but I think it would be more interesting to find them a few years down the line.

Coincidentally...Hugh Dancy is basically saying the same 4 year thing.

Wishful thinking. This isn't 24, which did well enough in the ratings that it can come back whenever its creators want it to. Hell, this isn't even Heroes in the sense that it was once successful, stopped being successful due to creative missteps and then was rebooted in an attempt to rectify that. This is a show that just failed to find an audience. NBC gave it three years to do so and it couldn't. And its not like other networks were lining up. Fueller and Co. shopped it around after the cancellation. The fact is, no one wanted it. Four years won't change that. There just wasn't an audience for this show.

I think it could come back. The issue was that Amazon wasn't willing to accommodate American Gods' production schedule. They wanted S4 immediately, and Fuller (as well as Hugh, Mads and Lawrence at that point) had other commitments be it The Path, Rogue One/Dr.Strange, Blackish etc. I think given more time, it could definitely return. The Amazon contract will be done by then, Fuller may have the rights and we could see it somewhere like Netflix.
I will keep hoping.

I won't get my hopes up, but it's nice that they're talking about it.

Please let it be so. I've yet to find a new show that's grabbed me the way this one did since it ended.

As long as they get to work on getting the rights to Silence of the Lambs...we can't be teased with the promise of Lee Pace as Buffalo Bill and have nothing come of it!

I kinda wanted Marilyn Manson tbh, but i'm probably one of few, and I get that Fuller loves using the same actors and all.

I can be patient if something does ending up happening down the line. Please let it be so :)

Mads mentioned that Fuller was close to acquiring the rights from MGM, and Fuller wanted Lee for Dolarhyde and then said he wants him for Buffalo Bill, so I hope the stars align for Fuller and co. when time comes.

Please Gawd. Since CBS s*** the bed with his Star Trek scheduling, hopefully this is something he can fit into his American Gods schedule.

Halt and Catch Fire will be ending soon as well, so hopefully everything will fall into place so Lee Pace can play Buffalo Bill like Fuller wants him to be alongside Mads, Hugh, Lawrence etc.
