Dragon Age 2 Incoming. - Part 1

So, apparently the latest Steam update screwed up EA games that are installed. I get an error trying to start Mass Effect and I hear DA also has the same issue. Anyone know if they fixed it?

No idea. If it plagues you, I'd complain to Steam. I assume they must have some form of customer support.

So I was looking on amazon, used this game is only 20 bucks. I definitely plan to pick it up soon.

New it's only $25-27. Buy it new, support BioWare, and get the free DLC the new copy should come with while you're at it.

^ that's right.

the Black Emporium DLC comes free with all new copies, right??

the mirror in the Black Emporium that lets you change your character's appearance whenever you want is a gift from the gaming Heavens.

I hope ME3 and DA3 implement a similar feature.

ok.......I'm playing a 2h warrior for the 1st time.

I'm right at the start ( Lothering, Early Kirkwall ). But, is it me, or does 2h do pitiful damage against targets?

it just seemed to take much longer to kill an enemy with my 2h sword than it did with my Mage. I think my Sword + Shield warrior did more damage than my 2h warrior.

maybe it's just because it's in the early stages. But, at what point/level does 2h start doing more damage? Or, which stat(s) should I focus on?

When I play DA2, I've been working through with my 2H. It can feel that way at times, until you start leveling up and getting your hands on some better weaponry.

Better to remember that 2H isn't made for single-target damage (aside from Mighty Blow) but for multi-hit damage. They have the widest arc for damage, and with Scythe and especially an upgraded Whirlwind (360 degree guaranteed critical hit? Yes please) you can lay waste to entire groups.

sounds awesome. thanks!

I guess I just have to be patient.......lol

Reveals abit about Tallis' backstory, the DLC "Mark of the Assassin" is coming out today too, ya!

I've been so caught up in waiting for Arkham City, that I completely forgot about Mark of the Assassin........lol

I guess I'm most interested in what new weapons/items we will get in the DLC......

eh...to be honest...I'm not really interested in returning to the game. I literally had to grab myself through it. I even switched it to easy because I got tired of the constant spawn battles...

yeah.....I tried getting back into the game recently, but I still have a hard time.

indeed, I've gone back and played Origins again, and I've realized just how much I miss ( and prefer ) Origins. :csad:

sure, there are a few aspects in DA2 that I prefer. but, overall, I can get into the story and characters of Origins much easier than I can with DA2.

You get some rings and whatnot, no new unique armor, but rings and weapons that vary, but nothing really special on the weaponry, some of the rings and belts we're really nice tho!

Anyhow i really wish we'd have a character like Tallis permamently, tho in the end that wouldn't just work with the game's story, but she provides good insight and a new angle on DA's various residents. Orlais is made far more colorful and we get a variety of French sounding characters with only 1 being very over the top humorous character, he farts in our general direction i'd say! :cmad: A good part of the DLC is like a very easy mode Metal Gear Solid where you sneak around, but you can choose a more violent path or so i'm led to believe. The last boss of this game is just great like Cory was, infact i'd rate both of them easily higher than the DA2 finale boss, even tho that boss fight was rather great, it just didn't have that special antagonist feeling.

It seems this DLC has a good replay value, i didn't bring either Aveline or Isabela, both who are connected with Orlais/Qunari, brought my girlfriend (Merrill) and Brother Grey Warden Carver! :D It was post-Campaign so Act 3, i love how Merill calls me Ven'halen which is beloved/darling or so, not to mention Carver really has become a man of his own right, tho the way he joins the campaign seems incredibly far stretched and forced.

Still, i had fun with it. 8/10

I can't seem to bring my GW Carver with me from a post-game save? He's greyed out at the selection screen. What the balls.

Oh yeah the Varric segment is irrelevant, i was worried about that too. :)

So yeah to everyone: The DLC begins with a part where you're forced to have Varric and you can't have your sibling, but afterwords you choose your group where Tallis is your companion and you're allowed to choos 2 Companions to tag along, includes your sibling!

Yeah, I was just about to post that.

Balls, Anders (romance) and Carver, Varric and Carver, or Varric and Anders.

cool! thanks.

what kind of weapons do we get? are they cool looking?

Nothing I wrote pertained in any way to what you do or do not like.

And oh boy, sarcastic Hawke wins again in this DLC. Bahaha. So do Carver and Anders.
