But why? Drax is gruff and ornery but it's not like he's a big silent brute. I'm sure he'll have plenty to say

Exactly. Drax has a very deep personal connection to the antagonist. This is definitely a big speaking role.

Groot is the big mostly silent wildcard that I think some people are picturing Drax as. There's no point in doubling down on that kind of character, especially when that's not Drax

Groot= Chewbacca. Once I've told people who asked "Why the tree, what does he do?" they instantly understood.

To address your addled rants about "Oh mer gurd, new body" The audience still has to believe that Drax could be Moondragon's father when she shows up. If you have two actors the same age, and one's the father, it's going to be too much for the audiences suspension of disbelief. You can't have the guy from Twilight play Naomi Rapacci's father on the basis that he's in a "new body." It will undersell the character.

So you're more concerned with how someone looks bald than with proper casting. That reflects well on the degree of thought you put into your casting choices. You should congratulate yourself.

Whether you like it or not, Ultimates is still "sours" material, and Nick Fury was black in one of the comics, and in fact, based on Samuel L Jackson. It was slam dunk casting.

Lastly addressing your Star-Lord claim of 25 to 45:

Michael Rosenbaum (40)
Joel Edgerton (39)
James Mardsen (39)
Sullivan Stapleton (36)
Wes Bentley (34)
Lee Pace (33)
John Krasinski (32)
Zack Levi (32)
Eddie Redmayne (31)
Joseph Gordon Levitt (31)
Jim Sturgess (31)
Cam Gidget (30)
Jack Hutson (30)
Garrett Hedlund (28)
Chris Lowell (28)

First incorrect point of yours to address is that no actor has hit 45, or is anywhere near it. Only one actor has hit 40, and only 4 out of the 15 have passed up 35.

The average age of the actors is just under 33, and that number is dragged up by the two or three outliers, as 2/3rds of the list is 33 and under.

Marvel clearly has a vision of a 30-ish Star-Lord (maybe even a 25-ish, given that they had a 30 year old Chris Evans play a Steve Rogers in his early 20s.) They're not going to go for Josh Brolin, or any other 45-ish actor for this role. This is a young man's role, and that's who it will go to.

Your personal idea of "good casting" seems to be "Find an actor I like, and change the character to fit the actor." That's actually horrible casting.

You keep repeating your self that “Star lord should be young” and Drax Should be old so he can have a daughter” yet you want to say that 33 is young and Joe M. at 35 is old enough to have a daughter in her 20s? Come on, from what you say if Drax has a 20 something daughter he needs to be 40+, Joe M is NOT. Pluss he looks soft with out a beard.

And Joe M is better suited for several other heros, why waste him on Just Drax (and I dont mean that in a bad way). Aquaman, Hercules, punisher, and more. But stop trying to say he is the best for Drax just bc of his body.

And yes Ultimate Nick is black, and NOW Drax looks like the hulk, so should we start saying ronnie coleman for Drax? My point was despit the source material things can change. hugh jackman is 6'2" in the comic Wolverine is 5'2", Big deal? not to me or any one els, so let this age thing with drax go, youve been pushing it since the thread started

Maybe. I just think he is going to have more of a singular focus and with that is going to be less speaking, not silent but not someone who says something unless he needs to. All that said, I guess Joe M would be fine, though I'm not sure I'd want Drax to be a bigger dude than Thor, should they happen to meet up in the future. My favorites are still Kevin Grevioux or Michael Jai White.

Joe M is 36. By the time Moondragon shows up in a GoTG sequel, he'd be over 40, which is sort of a perfect age for Drax. Someone with some age, but not enough to be "fat and gross" as you put it.

Who is your mysterious, brilliant Drax suggestion that you think I'm taking the piss on? Care to share, instead of trolling my posts?

LOL Sorry to troll YOUR post. Un like you I went to IMDB and did a search for actors 6'4"-6'7" who could play Drax

Dave Bautista
Jason Momoa
Kevin Durand
Daniel Cudmore
Shad Gaspard
Johann Urb
Derek Mears
Brian Patrick Wade
Ezra Masters
Tom Hopper
Douglas Tait

All up and coming actors, all look like Drax, all bring good qualities to the role. And when you see them on screen you see DRAX. NOT so&SO playing Drax

I'm going to vet your list carefully, just to show that I'm fair. But so far all I see is wrestlers, stunt men, and actors I know aren't particularly great.

Dave Bautista is exactly what I've always pictured Drax looking like. Right size, has a little age to him, looks tough bald. Problem is the guy couldn't even use the microphone in WWE. Problem is...

Yeah we do, it's the start of a franchise, and marvel contracts are for 5-6 films which equals 8-10 years.

I'm sorry dumb A$$ says what?

You of all people should not tell anyone when to stop posting. Dont start something I will finish. go back and look at some of your post then re think your comment

It did but his acting was good, What about dwayne johnson & shad gaspard

The Rock is a legit leading man. I doubt he'd want to play second billing to whoever gets Star-Lord. Same with Vin Diesel.

Shad Gaspard sounds like Shad Gaspard reading Shakespeare.

Edit: I am not even gunna feed you. This is pointless, all I am going to say is that almost everyone here is against Jim Carrey as Thanos, and it should just be left at that, you won't convince anyone, and vice versa. But whatever

Just for jaqua99 and his hatred of wrestlers who act. 3 wrestlers who can act

Batista

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

Shad Gaspard

lol What are you talking about?

The only thing I have argued with you about was Jim Carrey as Thanos. I never said ANYTHING about hating wrestlers who act. In fact, I like seeing some wrestlers act. Some aren't that good, but I think it's a great thing that they do. I love Dwayne Johnson in everything he's in. I never said anything about hating ANY wrestlers who act, I have no idea what you are talking about, whether you are making that up, or mixing me up with someone else, idk.

idk, who Shad Gaspard is, and I think that the rock could honestly pull of Drax, I just don't think it's something he *would* do. I think he is a fine actor though

Ok most Actors cant do shakespeare, yet shad has done stage work for the last 2-3yrs. I follow him on twitter.

All the other actors I picked have enough acting experience to play Drax

Dave Bautista
Jason Momoa
Kevin Durand
Daniel Cudmore
Shad Gaspard

I think it really depends on what role Drax's is. Sure, Quill will be the MAIN guy. But I am sure Drax will have a close to lead as well, a big role, I mean, look who the villain is. Do you really think these guys have the creds to be leading men, ir you will? Guys who can basically almost play a lead action role? I don't really know who they are. But I think this really depends on Drax's role, but i just don't see marvel going with wrestlers since they haven't yet. It just seems to obvious

Really Mr.DVD Luke Goss is better than Batista?

By a long shot, yes.

please, people, realize that not only can 9/10 wrestlers not act well, but you would be laughed out of the business to choose someone like Batista as a lead in a movie you are taking as seriously as GOTG.

while you're at it, let's get Big Show for Thanos and Hornswaggle for R2D2
