Can someone recommend something with Joe Manganiello in it? I tried to judge his performance by watching True Blood clips and thought it was just meh.

^He was Flash Thompson in the first Spiderman movie, his biggest role I know of, though i'm not a huge fan of his or anything.

He was in True Blood, One Tree Hill, and Spidey. and more recently Magic Mike lol

I knew Chris Evans was hesitant, but I didn't know they ended up throwing money at him. Although I guess I shouldnt have been so naive
He got his contract down to 6 films from 9, but he still made less than a mil for Cap 1 (he and Hems are apparently getting big raises for their second solo outings, though)

SLJ is, I think, the only actor that they lowballed who ended up negotiating a big payday right off the bat

Gonna throw out Tyler Perry again. He's 6'5" and all woman.

He's definitely got the rack for it. :o

My main choice is still Manu Bennett. He may be only 5'10, but he's a freaking beast of a man. Seeing him as Crixus, and recently as Slade in CW's Arrow, I'm confident that he could pull off Drax in his sleep.

Do we know what he did make for Cap 1?

Supposedly he's making $8 Million for Captain America 2. I guess that's the power being second billing in a $1.5 B grossing film buys, even if you could never make that money anywhere else.

I don't believe any of this. Until the actor for Drax is signed, Jason Momoa is still a possibility just like everyone else, in my mind.

Whoa! Never noticed that was him. Man he's grown a lot since then, which makes sense because that was years ago.

He's not bad, he's a geek and a stronger actor than Mamoa. I'd say yes to him.

lol dont know about that i have actually been impressed by momoa from GOT,conan hell he even looked solid in bullet to the head

cant say the same about joe

My understanding is, the only things Evans got by "playing hardball" was negotiating the proposed 9 movie contract down to 6. Which, seeing as some of the other actors have gotten that too, IIRC, it seems like Marvel is hardly being fascisty about the matter.

Considering Marvel asked him 3 times, I imagine they sweetened the pot a little bit each time they came back. Higher starting salary, larger raise potential etc. Owing to the fact that Marvel was obsessed with landing him in the role.

I don't think their pursuit of Momoa involves the same zeal.

It was six figures, don't remember the exact figure. RDJ and Hems also made 6 figures for their first flick

Obviously RDJ got his big payday, and Evans and Hems both made ~3M for Avengers

So Momoa told Marvel to suck it. Breaking on several sites. So it on IGN.

Does he make "Where are they now?" lists by 2015? I'd say so.

He'll wind up in The Expendables 4 as the primary antagonist's body guard.

Maybe we're exaggerating, but seriously, he shouldn't pass this up. Look at what Marvel has done for RDJ, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, etc. etc.... Call me crazy, but getting a payday from Marvel and the attention you get from being in this movie universe could only help your career, right?

All I'm seeing are links back to an elmayimbe tweet saying they're testing other actors. Is there a link to something that actually says Momoa has passed?

Nope!

It's all El Mayimbe.

Thanks

There's usually a bunch of movie news the week after the Oscars, since there's a bunch of coverage available. Hopefully we get something solid this week

Another false scoop from El Mayimbe. Or he jumped the gun. Whatever.

Dotted line wasn't even signed.

Momoa is an idiot. His last two movies bombed. This was his chance to be in a big budget comic book superhero movie. No one is knocking on his door to get signed. Now maybe it was his rep that dropped the ball here. But he's not not even some hot flavor of the month product. He's not the next Vin Diesel. He's a big dude with a unique look and the types of roles he will get are limited. This was his chance to book another big movie for his resume and he ****ed it up big time.

Momoa is not a star or a box office draw. If Marvel Studios wanted him in the movie he should've taken it.
