Nice! The question now is, will Star Wars be released that December?
Might as well call this LoTR 4. They are trying to recapture that Holiday fantasy film magic. Episode 7 may take that date, but I can also see them going to 2016. Could go either way.
Yeah definitely a lot of sci-fi stuff. I would definitely go with fantastical dwarves and flying machines and the works. More sorcery stuff, as opposed to just a couple of wizards. In needs to outdo LotR on every level in terms of the fantastical, over the top stuff. Storywise it will be very difficult to top Tolkien's trilogy.
Basically this would be a rough draft template for doing a He-Man movie. It would be smaller scale, but the mix of sci-fi and sword and sorcery is there.
It shouldn't be very much like LOTR at all if they do it right.
