DVD/Box Set Discussion

I was hoping that S7 was gonna come with a digital copy of the whole season like Supernatural did. But it didn't, I didn't really care becase at least with Small ville you got close to a full season unlike Supernatural.

I never even thought of that. That would be great, I hope season 8 does. Better then finding and converting every episode lol

The UK is releasing seasons 1-7 in one set

that looks sweet, but they really should have waited untill u know the show is totally over to do a full box set.

Heh. Why when they know they can double-dip? :p

Warner Home Video did the same thing with Sex and the City box sets. Now there's a show that got milked dry. $$$$$$$$ ;)

yea i know some people do this all the time like lucas for star wars box sets and all that.

last year buffy and angel did the same thing. The sets were 'repackaged' individually to make them cheaper and new full series collections were released cheaper. Charmed brought one out last week in the UK, it knocked £100 off the price

i wonder who will be on the cover for this season, im hoping its chloe, clark and davis

No way, Lois & Clark in their reporter gear with the Daily Planet behind them. That should be the DVD cover, and if its not, then they need to be lynched. :o

yea i agree its probably going to be clark and lois with the planet behind them.

S8 DVDs to be released Aug. 25th.

There’s a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There’s a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is. But Jimmy Olsen was on the scene of one of the do-gooder’s exploits, and he snapped a blurred photo of the hero in superspeed action - a hero everyone now calls the Red-Blue Blur. Red-jacketed, blue-shirted Clark Kent draws closer to his Superman destiny in the exciting 22-episode Season 8 of Smallville.

Another Kryptonian destiny also takes shape: Davis Bloome begins to realize he is Doomsday. His mission on Earth: kill Clark Kent. So many new events (will Jimmy and Chloe’s marriage last?), so many new faces (Tess Mercer, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy among them!), so many state-of-the-art effects - so don’t miss a single thrill-packed moment!

The DVD edition comes on 6 discs for $59.98 SRP. Video is widescreen, audio in English Dolby Surround 5.1 with an option for Portuguese Stereo, and subtitles in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese and Thai. The Blu-ray edition comes on 4 “BD-50″ discs for $79.98 SRP. High-def 1080p widescreen video are accompanied by English Dolby Surround 5.1 audio; no other language options have been mentioned at this time for the BD version.

Both have a running time of 1012 minutes, and also include the following Bonus Material: Cast/Creator Commentaries, Unaired Scenes, Featurette: “Smallville’s Doomsday: The Making of a Monster” and Featurette: “In the Director’s Chair: Behind the Lens and Calling the Shots with Allison Mack”.

Kudos to Allison for making the "featurette" but I am beyond disappointed that it isn't Tom instead. :(

I am dissapointed they have a featurette that highlights what I consider possibly the worst episode of the series ever

Cool news about the dvd/bluray sets getting released in aug how nice is it to get it a few weeks earlier then we have in the past. Cant wait to check out the commentaries, bonus features, and deleted scenes. I do agree it sucks allison's episode was very bad story but i cant wait to see what she has to say about the experience.

what episode did she direct again?

Power

All I know is if I watch that featurette, I will want to smash my fist through a wall if she says anything positive about "how great <fill in the blank> was" because Power to me was 1 giant pile of turd and a slap into any Superman fan's face, sucks that AM got delt that one to direct.

:csad: Once again another disappointing set with lack of awesome special features . IMO Season 2 was the best dvd set for special features , we got Tom & Michael doing a few commentaries which were hilarious , awesome gag reels . The next set that was good was Season 4 for with Erica Durance as Lois Lane .

The dvd set features for Season 8 suck . The only good thing as it stands now is the cover art .

I'll still get this dvd set but not right away . It's not worth it to pay $59.98 for half ass Season . I rather spend my money on The Transformers - 25th Anniversary Matrix of Leadership Edition: Collector’s Set .

whats wrong with deleted scenes and we know there is commentary for legion and a few other episodes, the doomsday feature should be interesting to see what they show. The only disapointing thing for some i say is the allison feature.

oh eww! yuck! hated that episode. *vomits*

I absolutely loathed the episode and Allison hadn't done it any favors with her directing, but I'll likely still watch that featurette.

I am fond of the process and try to learn as much as I can, so it should be a bit revelatory of that, even if I don't care for the episode itself.

Although, I'm with Kal-El8, I won't rush out and get it.

The only way I'd do that was if Tom was doing commentary and I doubt that's going to happen.

I'm also with Serene on her thoughts: Why does Allison get a featurette on her directing and Tom doesn't get one on his?

Maybe he was asked and didn't want to do it. Feel kinda bad for Allison if that's the case and she's playing second fiddle to Tom in more ways than one.

Or maybe I'm not... hate that episode, didn't really like Chloe's direction in the show this year either.

*shrug*

YEa who knows if tom was asked to do one and didnt and allison was second choice, or maybe since tom has directed 3 other times before this yr they didnt think it was needed for him to do a feature. Yes power was a crap episode along with most of reqiuem but as for the other lana episodes bride/legion/bulletproof i thought were all good episodes.

Actually, I liked Requiem, but mostly was because of the acting and not the story. Like her or not, Kristin really hit it out of the park in that one and Tom was wonderful.

I know I will probably watch the featurette myself and be very angry doing it. Anytime somebody says something to put a positive twist on the storyline in the episode I will get angry fast(especially the roof top scene).

My guess is Tom doesn't want to do it, I don't want to be rude but he is the show's highest paid actor, you think he could do 1 or 2 interviews before the season starts(he probably hates the will you wear the suit question) or something for the DVD like the commentary for an episode.

A pile of crap covered in the tastiest icing with sprinkles on top and a scoop of the world's finiest ice cream on the side is still a pile of crap at the heart of it. I seen alot of people defend Promise as some great episode because of everything outside(camera angles, acting, 1 good scene from Lionel, points of view from 3 different sides, etc) of the main storyline, which in my opinion was crap and how I rate that episode. The only saving grace for Requiem being better then Power is it had a good b-plot(something which Power was sorely lacking)

I will probably get this season when the price drops to like $20 since I already have the episodes on my iPod.
