he's not "shredded" nor should he be. The character is pure physical force. As such, his body would resemble that of a strong-man or prison inmate.

It's the image that movies have made us believe is strength that throws some viewers off.

If you see any Mr. Universe types that show up on muscle magazines, their strength is isolated to their work-out regiment. They have no real dexterity or flexibility.

Exactly. Martial artists muscles tend to lengthen, rather than just bulk up, especially if they're not power lifters on the side. The real big guys who aren't on some sort of professional power lifting regimen will often have builds similar to Tom Hardy's in The Dark Knight Rises.
