Eddie Murphy in Space...AGAIN?!

are they leaving him in space this time?

This movie hurts my feelings. These are concepts that are rife with unspeakable comedy that keep getting butchered about the head and neck like fat cows. Stop it. Just stop it.

Rated PG for....bawdy and suggestive humor. Bawdy? Yeah.

Why doesn't Eddie Murphy just stick to children movies? I thought Dr.Dolittle, Shrek, and Daddy Day Care proved that's what he does best now. The "Metro", "Coming to America" and "Another 48 hours" days are over man. Though thankfully this movie doesn't feature him in a fat suit.

Murphy said he's going back to standup after Beverly Hills 4.

I've never seen Metro, is it any good?

I cant believe this is the same Eddie Murphy who wore a red leather suit and talked about the HoneyMooners being more than friends on his HBO special back in the day. I Think that one was kidnapped and substituted by aliens for the "Pluto Nash, Meet Dave" one we have now. I want the "Raw" blue leather suit wearing Eddie back!(cry). Please Tito hand me a tissue.

hes standups were amazing. he is one of those guys that made me laugh realy really loud.

him going back to stanup?.......................yes baby.

When was the last time he was even in a R rated movie?

Do you remember this movie? Because I don't.

Anyway, "Meet Dave" looks like it will flop horribly. This one looks even worse than "The Love Guru", and if that one flopped then this one doesn't have a shot in hell.

Eddie Murphy's just full of fail these days.

It seems Fox isn't allowing any people to see it early.....just like date movie and countless other crapfest's.

I'm sure they don't want those "negative"... "s*** killing".... "crap revealing".... reviews, you know...the negative reviews that IF, were written, before the release, that it would hurt the box office success!......eh...i mean that was the whole point of the film... it was planned from the beginning...those sneaky bastards... :)

and if by any chance a critic was able to get a screening prior...must likely they'd be assassinated.

this gained the most quiet response to a trailer i had ever heard in a theatre ever. :o

He's like most of the comedic actors of the 80's: Has nothing left but bad movies. Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase (to name a few) have not been relevant in years. Had he still been alive, John Candy might have fallen into the same boat as well.

At least Bill Murray is doing well and Steve Martin has had a few hits this decade (Cheaper by The Dozen, Bringing Down the House). Pink Panther made enough to warrant a sequel.

This movie is going to be awful and Beverly Hills Cop 4 is just Murphy trying to relive his old glory.

I remember that movie. It was okay, but nothing great.

22% fresh ratings on RottenTomatoes and only 5.3 mil made on the opening weekend. It's another 20th Century dud, folks. Even the studio's recognized it after only 3 days:

"It was a tough concept to get across," 20th Century Fox distribution executive Bert Livingston said of "Meet Dave," which cost about $55 million to make. "It's upsetting for all of us and for Eddie. He's very funny in this. Just not enough people came."

Dude didn't even show up for the premiere last Wednesday- mind you, he was the one who insisted on having a premiere in the first place.

Any reviews from the users here who saw this?

"It was a tough concept to get across"?

Well if you knew that in the first place, why the hell did you even make the film?

This is Fox. They pretty much ran their own AVP franchise into the ground, they make Kutcher movies by the dozen, and Rothman hates their tentpole X-franchise. Rational decision-making and Fox do not go hand in hand.

While I commend him for doing an original screenplay and not a remake or adaption of something else...double edged sword is that new things aren't always good.
