Elder Scrolls V

It doesn't matter. Kinect or Move, the PC version will still be the best.

Have you used Kinect? It actually works incredibly well. Like, omg!

I doubt they will use motion control at all, but Move would probably be the only one to work. Games like Elder Scrolls require lots of "button" pushing, using your hands in a game like that regardless of how accurate it is would limit it. You need buttons in a game like this. But again I doubt motion control would be used in a game such as this.

But reading all that info sure has me excited, I'm most thankful that the combat will be more tactical, and not just button mashing. Many things in this game sound awesome. I'm really excited to hear Soule's score for this.

I just hope I can beat Oblivion before it comes out.

Yes. I'm still trying to beat Oblivion. AKA, Videogame Cocaine.

I actually look forward to playing Elder Scrolls with Move support. That would be cool... I enjoyed the waggle controls for Twilight Princess... something that would be a lot more fleshed out than that would be great.

As for Kinect... as much fun as I have with Dance Central... I just... I'd rather have something in my hand when it comes to actual set down on the couch type games.

I think two Move controllers would handle duel wielding much better than Kinect ever could.
Let´s make this quick and no ruin the thread talking about something other than Skyrim, but, imo, Kinect can do everything Move can when the opposite is not true.
I´m not defending Kinect as i still haven´t tried to (or Move, but i do have a Wii, so, it´s more or less the same), but Kinect has one thing that the other motion controllers don´t, natural movement.

The lack of buttons are, contrary to what people think and Sony advertised, the greatest asset of Kinect, because of the all natural movement.
You don´t have buttons in real life, so...
If you wield two move controllers to mimick two swords, how to you make everything else?
And while fighting?
With Kinect you can do all that and much more, even give a kick in the groin and a headbutt....of course that´s just in theory as Microsoft seems to only want Kinect for the casual, which shameful as the potential is much wider than that.
With Kinect you can even put on a scary face to fright your enemies, you can actually be the character, not just control it....the potential is enormous...but, at this point, Kinect is pure crap

Yeah, no thanks. I'll settle for a controller.

With a game like Elder Scrolls V then how do you quickly go to inventory, select a dialogue tree, initiate it? Open doors....and more importantly how do you jump and move around without buttons? So no it would not work. Elder Scrolls is not a on a rail automated game. Movements in this game and so forth go beyond "swinging a sword" from selling things in a massive inventory to strafing around the enemy to get a better advantage in real-time would not work on something like Kinect unless you had a massive room to do it in. But to run around with out buttons would be difficult I believe, as would selling certain things or doing things in inventory or stats changes would not be so "smooth".

Same only I don't even consider it "settling." This generation has finally standardized a great, intuitive controller setup with the dual analog sticks--one for movement, one for camera--and the d-pad for selecting important stuff and the triggers for switching to targeting if necessary. It all works really well and I'm generally looking to veg out when I'm playing games anyway.

Hey, I'm just saying I'd TAKE Move control... as it feels pretty darn natural now as compared to Kinect... which is cool and all but feels a bit more... um... forced, if you will.

I don't care either way. I'm fine with just using a controller.

I wouldn't take any kind of motion control. It's a fad that's totally unnecessary for my gaming enjoyment. Not that I begrudge it or anything; as long as the option for a normal controller is still available on every game I want to play, more power to the motion fans.

No, I'm with you 100%. When I said settle, I was kind of being sarcastic. I guess it didn't come through. Maybe I should have wrapped it in quotations. Or perhaps....snarky italics.

I just want something to use my Move with... real game wise. :p

I like to work out my mind when I play games, not my body. When I work out my body I go jogging so yea I like to just chill on my couch when I game.

Well, I'll use the same excuse I used for the Wii. When I do game with motion controllers... I'm setting on the couch.

Do I think motion is a fad? Sort of... I don't think it's going anywhere though, I mean... with the success of both the Move and the Kinect you can bet we'll get a better version of them with the next Xbox and PS4.

I'm fine if a developer wants to give you an option... if someone wants to use the Move with Elder Scrolls... and Bethesda gives us that option... who cares? As long as there is an option (ala Killzone 3 and Socom) then we should all be able to live together in gamer harmony. :p

/derailed thread.

I agree, but I don't mind them utilizing motion gaming. It's a good idea if done right.

yea there's nothing wrong with implementing motion control, rather it be move or kinect. gamers get their d&d underroos into a bunch too easily. motion control could be fun for a game like this and if ya don't like em, just use the standard pad. I hope there will be some sort of motion control implemented. I'd wish they would let u use the kinect or eye toy to map your face into the game.

Well I wouldn't use it because I don't have Kinect, and since I live in a college dorm 8 months of the year I don't expect to buy it soon.

But I think its a good idea for them to use it because it could be fun for many people.

I´m sorry, but, how do you open doors?
Easily, just like in real life, you grab the knob and turn it.
Other movements....
When it was still called Project Natal, i got myself thinking how you could make an FPS on that, and i easily found how to do almost anything you do with a controller (almost because there is no way to go prone, unless you actually dive to the ground).
Maybe it´s not the best way to do it, but it´s just ideas and those work to show that stuff can actually be accomplished.
To walk, one way i found was to, starting on a standing position, all you have to do is take your leg (any leg) a bit to the front, like you are starting to walk.
To run, lift the foot of that same leg off the ground, keeping your heel on the ground.
To stop or return to walking, return to the starting position.
Or you could actually run or walk in place, but that would be tiresome.
To jump, the same applies, jump in place (tiresome once again), or make the movement of jumping, without actually do it.
Go to inventory, that´s a tricky one, but you could say the word: Inventory.
To pick stuff from there or level up, just like your would to point the move controller to the screen and move the cursor around, you can do the same with your finger.
To start a conversation and pick a line from the dialogue tree...
You can start a conversation with: HI, for example.
To pick a line you can have three ways: you choose with yout finger, like in the inventory; you can, if the lines are numbered, say: 1 or 2 or whatever....or you can actually read it and "talk" to the character.

Like i said those are ideas, maybe not the best, but it shows it can be done

I like the Wii (the only motion control i have).
If you ask me what i prefer, i´ll say a normal controller, but motion it´s cool also, it´s a diferent experience.
As for it´s totally unnecessary...yes, it is.
About being a fad........no, it´s not, in fact, imo, motion control are the future.
If i want it to be the future....at this point, no, but i can look into the future, is not that hard.
If you look at, for example, the holodeck as the pinnacle of video game, the holodeck is a gigantic motion controller.....
I believe it was Molyneux that said it, and he is right, 15 years ago the simple idea for a controller with 16 buttons would be ridiculous...but, that the controller we have, and it´s great.
IMO, the future of gaming is not to control the characters like it is today, but to actually be the characters, and that can only be obtained with motion controllers (notice that, to be the character, doesn´t mean you in all games, it means you will be Gordon Freeman, Master Chief, Kratos....and so on).
I thing i like about Kinect is that the pinnacle of motion contollers can be obtained tomorrow if MS wants to.
I´ll give you an idea: Imagine a third person game where the character does everything you do; if you jump he jumps, if lean right he leans right, if you scratch your head he scratchs his head and so on, only then you are actually the character.
Of course there needs to alway have the option to normal controller, that can only disappear if, by any chance, the tradicional controller is put aside.

But yeah, i agree, at this point, standard controllers rule

I hope there will be some sort of motion control implemented. I'd wish they would let u use the kinect or eye toy to map your face into the game.
That would be great, i don´t understand why many games where you can make your face, where you don´t have a distinct character, don´t have that option.
Of course, it would pointless to me as i don´t have Kinect, the PS Eye or the PS3, but it would be great.

I also agree that some games should have the option to have motion controllers and standard ones, and change it between the two on the fly.
This way it would make the game even more replayable, because it would be two diferent experiences; and because the player could, for example, start with standard controller, and, after a while, lift their ass off the couch and do some motion and then sit back down and return to standard and so on...it would be as he would please.

Agreed.

I've been saying for quite some time now that we have all of these cameras and whatnot... why have developers NOT given us the option to map our face into the games we play.

Granted, the ones that have (the silly EA boxing game) didn't do a great job with it... but in a game like Ghostbusters it would have been great to see yourself as the rookie. I'm sure handled by a developer like Bioware or Bethesda it could be done very well... I'm sure they would also be able to work around the emotion "problems" some have claimed as issues by using camera mapped faces.
