Well I remember things like that, so shame on me for applying the same standard of knowledge retention on others that I apply on myself :P

Yes... SHAME ON YOU. :cmad:

On another note, who's planning to get this for their computer - I feel if one has the option PC is definitely the way to go on account of the modding community.

Without mods I probably wouldn't buy it all.
They made a better game than Bethesda. It's not a wonder this, Fallout 3 and Vegas (ob) stole from them without really giving credit.

360 for me. I guess I just don't "get" the appeal of mods.

The only mods i'd really care for are character mods, and even then i'd only care if it was a game I didn't feel provided enough customisation. After Fallout, i'm not worried about there being a lack of character options in this game.

Ignoring the ton of design problems. It will be designed for that platform, so right off the bat I'm probably going to need a new interface. e.g. Oblivions map didn't show the entire map, the text was huge, the stack based inventory system didn't show the entire inventory without scrolling. I can take a gander and guess this is because people playing on a console typically sit a good three-five foot away with alot not actually using a hd tv (my brother doesn't) which gives a much softer image. On a pc though with higher resolutions, different interface and sitting at a desk one foot away, that sort of interface is just stupid. Fallout 3 improve the problem, but it still needed sorted for the most part.

I'm with you on that. I don't like console interfaces either, and that's coming from someone who plays most of his games on consoles.

The only mods I usually get are new weapons and armor (not over-powered ones) and higher res textures :)

I think that's whats great about mods and one of the best things about Bethesda's games, the community. It can be something tiny, like an added wind effect, or a total conversion 50 hour game (that's much better than Oblivion) like Nehrim, all without dropping a penny beyond the original game and extending it's play value for years. The Elder Scrolls V will probably be getting fan support a decade after it's released.

Ehhh, tbh, I'd ather buy Elder Scrolls V for the consoles. Mods are cool, but they aren't needed, IMO.

Comp vs. console really depends on whether I upgrade my comp enough by then to run Skyrim for me personally.

As for mods tho, it's a mixed bag. Some of the mods made Oblivion soooo much better. Improved textures, more enemies, quests, improved character models (i.e. Women who don't look like 50 yr. old men), more weapons and armor. Stuff like that made it hard to go back to vanilla Oblivion. On the other hand I got so into it I kinda ruined the game for myself. I dl'd too many mods, changed too many things, that it stopped feeling like the same game to me. When I eventually got it for PS3 I fell back in love with the game again as I was playing within the set boundaries, stopping to smell the roses so to speak.

Then again, maybe we'll get lucky and Bethseda will take a queue from Valve, and allow some PC features to make their way over. They've said before that the PS3 version (talking back during Oblivion) could handle mods. Then again if they've learned from their last few games mods might not be as big of a problem. Like a big mod for me was non omnipotent guards, and combat mods. It made it hard to play an assassin if you didn't get a kill on the first hit while someone was asleep as a guards from the other side of the city would somehow hear you stab someone in their sleep in the middle of their house. In Fallout 3 Bethseda seemed to fix that. So maybe they'll improve even further on that, and mods that fix programming flaws won't be as big of a deal.

To me Elder Scrolls can only be played on the PC. Mouse/Keyboard >>>>>>>>>>>>>> gamepad. I tried playing Oblivion with the 360 controller and it just didnt feel good to me at all. It's really a night and day difference when you've gone back and forth and experienced both setups. Ditto for Fallout 3

The reason to buy Skyrim for PC is there will probably be a mod that lets you ride a dragon.

As much as I would like to get it for my PC, because I love mods, I can't. All I have is a laptop, and as a poor college student can't afford to get a nice gaming pc. So I'll be getting it on the 360.

Stick with a game pad.

That's something else tbats annoying about Oblivion. Big massive fantasy world full of possibility's. What do you get? A horse that operates like a sailing boat, hit every 5 seconds by creatures with annoying music kicking in. I imagine riding a horse is actually quite heart pumping. Bethesda done a fairly good job of making it appear thoroughly mundane.

to me its virtually unplayable with a gamepad. The aiming with a mouse is SOOOOO much better than an analog stick. Plus the extra buttons making mapping out and using different spells as well as switching between different weapons much faster and intuitive. If the consoles were to support mouse/keyboard, Id be tempted to picking up the PS3 version but since no other game outside of Unreal T3 seems to care for this, its PC all the way for me

Yeah, it was pretty boring and just a means to travel a little faster. It should have been more like Assassin's Creed at least if not Red Dead.

Also made the unclimbable hills more annoying. I really hope they got rid of a lot of those in Skyrim.

I never got Carpal Tunnel playing Oblivion or any other PC game or even using my computer. Having a good mouse helps avoid that problem, too.

Is this a new screenshot? I've never seen it before.

I don't think I've seen this one either, nothing too special though.

I hope the horse mechanics are better, Altho I think Red Dead Redemption has spoiled me with their mechanics. Not sure anything can top that st the moment.

Yeah the horses in Oblivion were awful. I trust they've improved them though as it seems they've improved everything else.

It'd be fine if they were like Assassin's Creed.

Red Dead's were damn good though but took awhile to get used to. Even in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, I pulled back on the control stick to turn my horse around.
