I think saying "famous actors" isn't the way to put it. If you're talking about celebrities then yes, but when it comes to actors like Max Von Sydow or Sean Bean in Oblivion, or Andy Serkis in Enslaved I think it's completely different. Sure you'd recognise their face over a regular game voice actor but it doesn't make them any less talented or able to transform into a character for games.

I'm not sure what it is about video games. Was Liam Neeson in a movie the other day "The Big Man" doing a butchered Scottish accent but it wasn't that much of a deal. Likewise with Rob Roy. In Fallout 3 it's not a character, it's Liam Neeson. Same with Patrick Stewart in Oblivion and Samuel L Jackson in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It makes it pretty much impossible to invest in the character.

Well Liam Neeson is Irish, so i'm surprised he can't do a good scottish accent.

You missed my point, most of those actors have become celebrity actors. Samuel L. Jackson usually plays, well, Samuel L. Jackson. Same with Patrick Stewart (although he was perfect for the emperor in my opinion) and even Liam Neeson (although he didn't use to be that way). I would put Christopher Lee in that camp if it wasn't for the fact that I loved him in Kingdom Hearts. Even though he's recognisable, his voice is so unique it just works so well for those powerful, wise characters.

That is not the case at all with actors like Max Von Sydow. Could you honestly say you'd recognise his voice out of others? Or you would have recognised Andy Serkis in Enslaved? Hell, I find myself more distracted when I recognise video game voice actors from other games than if I do movie actors. With movie actors, the fact that it's different genres completely creates a bigger barrier, but when Nolan North is playing someone other than Nate Drake, THAT distracts me.

Well Andy Serkis is known for his unique "voices". He never has the same voice for any of his characters. I think Gary Oldman is also very good at doing different voices. He was in Call of Duty during the Russian campaign, and he was barely recognizable.

I too like Christopher Lee in Kingdom Hearts, as well as Leonard Nimoy.

Nolan North has fallen into the trap of making every character he plays sound exactly the same, but his most well known character is Nate Drake, and it was distracting to hear him play the Prince.
Now he's playing Superman, Superboy, Desmond Miles and a slew of other characters, that now all sound alike.

I only like him as Drake and Desmond. I think he plays Desmond in a kinda understated way, less brash and cocky as his other characters.

I really don't think you can blame that on Nolan North.

Well as an actor, he should always be trying to push his abilities to the limit. Otherwise he'll just get lazy and typecast and one day someone new will come along and he'll stop getting work.

Yeah, it's not REALLY his fault. I mean, he is good at what he does, and he's very in-demand.

Nolan North having a conversation with Nolan North:

When things like this start happening, it's time to stop using Nolan North so much.

Wow that's pretty bad...shame on 2k for being so god damn lazy

I think devs are telling him to give them the Nate Drake voice. Seriously. The dude voiced Brawl in War for Cybertron and was unrecognizable... same for Romeo in Halo: ODST.

Yea I did not notice the Morrowind drums as much at first now that he mentioned it I was like "Oh yea!".

Soule=The Man

I love that theme.

Ah, crap. When he said "it still gives goosebumps on the back of your neck" I was like "yeah, ok. try to hype it up more." and then he played it. my whole friggin body had goosebumps. love the theme, cant wait for this game!

Dwemer Centurions are returning too.

I've really missed that steampunk aspect of TES. Glad to see it returning.

"Our dragons speak this new language; this dragon language. And they speak it, and they breath fire, or cold or water or slow time."

:wow: THATS what the language does? daaamn, thats awesome!

Wow, that new theme is amazing! I love how they continuously built upon the Morrowind theme.

If the music is going to sound like that, then I'll be very pleased. It has some of the old, but doesn't stick the traditional fantasy fare of a ton of strings or brass.

After reading that GI article on Skyrim, i gotta say this might be one of my most anticipated games. I cant wait to see this thing in action.
