Civilization IV... which is running on the same engine as Oblivion.

Woh! Wait. WHAT?! One, Bethesda created this engine in-house. No game has used it. Two, I think Civilization looks worse than Skyrim in this comparision.

EDIT: nevermind, so used to Oblivion being the latest Elder Scrolls. LOL! Still, I think that shot of Civilization is kinda gross...

While I respect both your opinions (I don't, I consider them simply reaction replies to "me" than the discussion) it's a fruitless argument as it's subjective.
Factually though, it is technically superior, running on the gamebryo engine. which was the point, it's not the engine, It's Bethesda, sucking.

Civ 4 did not have to run a world as immense and detailed as Oblivion. The people were the only ugly thing in Oblivion. Everything else was very well done. Just look at that Civ 4 screenshot, there isn't even any detail on that globe. A spoon in Oblivion had more detail than that.

I've had my suspicions for a while now, but I'm now 100% convinced that UC is just some kind of troll.

To have any criticisms at all about the Skyrum graphics and design engine is ridiculous. If UC had read any of their technical blogs, all the things that make it stand out far above other games are clearly self evident. Environment? Individual snow patterns? Wind, rain snow effects on trees and plants? Giant, massive dragons having independent and unpredictable behaviour and movement at any time/place in a massive open world?

She is down right attractive, and is better looking than any person in Oblivion graphics wise.

I think her model as well as that big fellow look abit rubbery personally. Oblivion also had this problem, the physics also kind of amplified the idea they were made of rubber. I would agree it does look better, but that's not saying much, probably be apparent once it's seen in motion.

The people being "ugly" in Fallout 3 and Oblivion have very little to do with the scale of the game. Again, it's primarily Bethesda's presentation. Not the engine.

Low or high res textures or plastering everything with bump mapping are not a guarantee a game will look impressive. A good example of this would be arma 2, at times it can look almost photo-realistic. Yet presentation quality isn't persistant. the models have the same sterile talking 'cadaver quality of Bethesda's games, actully, it's much worse. Halflife 2 had very low res textures with with is considered now low poly-count models. Yet the presentation overcomes that and it arguably is still more impressive than both oblivion and arma 2. Instead of simply mimiking facial animation to the point of strange uncanny valley like Heavy Rain or Mass Effect (which use higher res textures as well as more features in general) or other similar examples the characters emote while being pretty much devoid of these problems.

Yeah, at this point you're just trolling so feel free to leave this thread. Come back if you have something productive to add to the conversation.

And GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE COMING TOMORROW MORNING!!!!:woot:

Ahh, I can't wait. I'm nervous though. I'm worried I won't be able to play the game. I have a complete phobia of giant insects. The second I read about the giant ants of Fallout 3 on the Overseer's computer, I quit playing and traded it in at Gamestop. :(

I get apprensive just trying to sprint past the giant spiders of Resident Evil and lucky for me the ****** camera angles has always been a good friend in that regard.

Still, if this plays anything like Oblivion or Fallout I won't be able to pull it off. I may have to buy the PC version and edit them out, but then I risk causing the game to crash. I've been looking at its picture in G.I. and in an attempt to desensitize myself, but I fear it will be different when I hear its movement and see it coming at me.
