duel wielding, finishing moves, stealth moves, even a shield has a knock back ability now! add that with body deformation/bleed-outs, enchanted weaponry/armor, and magic, and you have the best melee combat game of all time!

Sounds great.

I've been playing Oblivion on my computer. Sadly, it runs pretty poorly as I don't think my graphics card can handle widescreen well. It ran fine on my old montior, but I can only do 1600x900 on my new 1920x1080 one.

:wow: Sounds freakin awesome!!! November can't come any quicker.

Here's an interesting look at Tamriel's history. Oblivion took place at the end of the 3rd era/ 5th century and the beginning of the fourth/1st century. Looking at this timeline, you can see what happens between oblivion and Skyrim when we return to Tamriel.

The more i read about this game, the more ecstatic

The more details that are released about this game, the more impressive it looks. New details have popped up on the Internet on what we can further look forward to from this awesome game.

In Skyrim there will be new magic in the game called Dragon Shouts. Whenever you kill a dragon in the game you will get its soul which allows you read ruins that you find scattered across the land. Once you decipher the ruins, you will have access to the Dragon Shouts that are different to usual magic spells. These Dragon Shouts will allow you to do magic like teleport or do a force push. Deciphering this code could also be some sort of puzzle too.

Also making a return to Skyrim will be Enchantment, this was an ability you could achieve in Oblivion once you were granted access to the Mages Guild. Enchantment will allow you to infuse any weapon with any spell effect you already know to make it more powerful, spells such as Invisibility or even the ability to breathe under water.

Enchantment will also work with any accessories you own, be it a shield or a necklace. The only way you could Enchant an item in Oblivion was with the captured souls of fallen enemies which you stored in soul gems. This could be where the souls of slain Dragons would also be useful in Skyrim!

More details have also been confirmed about the ‘Radiant Storytelling system’. This basically is a game changing addition depending on your style of play. As you play through Skyrim, all your actions will have a affect on the game and the Radiant AI will adjust the quest/story to suit your play style so you get the best possible experience. This will make every play through of this game unique to the player.

I love the all Radiant Storytelling system, that kind of stuff is, imo, the future of gaming.
Video Games need that kind of AI for the games itself, not just for the characters.
That and the AI director in Left 4 Dead, that´s what games really need.

i too love to hear of a.i. improvements, hope it's as impressive as they are describing.

Morrowind is conquered by the Argonians

:wow:

Damn. And the Dumner used to use Argonians as slaves. Karma is a b***h for the Dumner.

So in this game we go back to the previous lands ?

I think it's Skyrim only. I was just commenting on the history.

Anyway, according to the history Morrowind is pretty much a mess. A lot of lands were destroyed by volcanoes and invaders. It's kinda sad considering how great it looked in Elder Scrolls 3.

Yeah, most of that stuff happened, or was at least talked about, in the book they released. There's another one coming out soon-ish too.

I'm guessing there will be plenty of new books to fill in the gaps in Tamriel's history. Speaking of books, do you guys think they may have some new features or surprises?

Features or surprises in books? I'm not sure I follow you.

With a game as amazing as this, I don't see myself playing Mass Effect 3 for a while. I've been a huge Elder Scrolls fan for a long time, so this comes first.

I have played Oblivion, but I was talking about real books.

Yeah, phrasing was a little confusing. I'm sure there will be, I just hope it's not the lame New Vegas version of temporary books.

^^ I like to play only one game at a time. Well, most of the time, anyway. Besides, I'll be too wrapped up in Skyrim to even think about Mass Effect 3. Don't get me wrong, I liked the first 2 games, but I just don't think they are as special as people make them out to be. I'll play it at some point.

I think it depends a lot on what you're looking for in your RPG. Bethseda games tend to be beautiful and expansive but generally speaking they lack strong narratives and characters. That is to say, you play Beth games for the sandbox and you play Bioware for the story. They make such different games from one another that its hard to compare them aside from both falling into the nebulous genre that is the rpg.

Now tbh, I found Fallout 3 to be an improvement over Oblivion on pretty much every front so I'm definitely interested to see how they use that experience and where they take Skyrim (and from the early tidbits the game does indeed look friggen awesome) but I've never really been able to play a Bethseda game more than once or twice at the most whereas I've run through my Bioware games multiple times.

Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz.

I got into Mass Effect. I wasn't bored all the time. However, I just don'e see myself replaying those games. They interested me, but didn't make an impact like Oblivion (it's a personal preference) or Fallout 3 or Red Dead Redemption (different genre), but that's just me.

Sure, but those 3 games you just listed still have large sandbox elements which Bioware games don't tend to have.
