Oh this oughta be rich.

I take it that Gaston won't be beating the **** out of him nearly as much as he did in the animated film.

Lefou never came off as gay per se, just that dude that's always a hanger.on, trying to be one of the cool kids. And he did crack on or get pissed at Gaston as often as he sucked up.

He does come off as a little flamboyant in the "Gaston" clip that was released the other week. Still, it really isn't much out of character. If they had made Lumiere gay it would be a much different story as he's more of a ladies' man.

LeFou clearly wanted to attract the attention of the Bimbettes in the cartoon, so he's attracted to women. He's bi if he's anything.

I never thought of cartoon LeFou as gay, I just though he was a short, ugly little guy who hung around Gaston as a means of self-protection and to get some measure of respect as Gaston's flunky. He probably sees it as his only chance to get chicks.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that part.

exactly.

there are many reasons why someone would act and behave like LeFou did in the original without needing to be gay.

In all of these years and multiple times watching the cartoon, I never once got the impression LeFou was gay - I saw him more like you saw him.

and I forgot about the Bimbette part. but now that you mention it, that's right. LeFou did try to get the attention of the Bimbettes ( near the end of the Belle song, right? ).

As long as the movie doesn't spend too much time on Le Fou, I don't care.

Like ... Le Fou is the a-hole comedic sidekick. He's not really a character I've ever cared about, so I'd rather the movie not spend too much time on something that might detract from the main story. That would just be padding to justify the running time of the film, which is unnecessary.

Is the movie going to make an attempt to make me feel sorry for a lowlife like Le Fou, too? :funny: Because I'm not here for that. That's just dumb if you ask me. I don't think confirming Le Fou's sexuality adds any depth to the story. And I'm also not here for a "bad guy gone good" subplot, especially when the movie is about the transformation of the BEAST (so I'd rather not have someone take a spotlight from that). I cheered in the original film when Cogsworth saved Lumiere by giving Le Fou his comeuppance.

Meh.

Yea I really don't care about LeFou. He's fine as the little comedic villain sidekick, but he's not really an important part of the story, nor does he warrant being one.

Meh.

good points. and I agree.

one thing that I remember when I watched the film is that, at first, you may kind of feel sorry for LeFou given how he's treated by Gaston.

but that feeling goes away as LeFou continues to go along with Gaston's devious plans.

and then you have that scene in the Mob Scene, where LeFou is leading the crowd into the woods and he has that evil look on his face. And that's when you know he's just as bad as Gaston. Any sympathy you may have had for him is gone by then.

indeed, the whole Mob Scene showed that even ordinary townspeople who seemed nice and relatively harmless at the beginning of the film ( during Belle ) can turn evil when consumed with fear, prejudice, and hatred.

The Mob Scene song showed the dark, ugly side of human nature, LeFou included.

New clip.

Dinner Invitation

[YT]YIYu_O65vcQ[/YT]

We see they change all scene "Dinner request". Beast not so furious, rude with raging expression. We see him more gently, calm and humble. And it's very interesting new vision of Beast. Also Bell just try escape!) I like that.

Am I missing something? This looks almost identical to the animated movie scene.

It just doesn't look as good in live action.

It really doesn't. Beast was SO much more lively in the original during this scene.

This Beast is going to pale in comparison to the original, which might ruin the whole thing for me. Beast is my favorite character in the original (and one of my most-favorite Disney characters altogether).

The Beast is certainly missing some of the life he had in the animated movie. I also miss Robby Benson's voice. I don't know if they gave it some audio makeup, but he had that great reverberating voice. I once saw Robby Benson and Paige O'Hara at a 3D sing-a-long screening of the film at El Capitan, and they did some Belle and Beast. It sounded like it was all him doing the Beast voice.

Still gonna watch the movie, and I hope the whole is better than just the segments I'm seeing. But so far, I feel like it hasn't translated very well into a live-action musical.

I'm not sure what I really expected from the object servants, but they just don't look as visually appealing or interesting to me anymore.

Geez they've really watered the beasts down a lot. My guess is they were concerned he would come across as too terrifying in live action if he acted that way. But now there's a gravitas missing to the character.

Add me to those who aways assumed that Lafou was gay. The breakdown from certain factions has been hilarious, though.

People are making a lot of assumptions based on clips. They could be edited.

Also, it's entirely possible LeFou doesn't know he's gay, hence the Bimbettes. Or they could portray things differently.

I've tried, I've really tried but I just don't like the look of the Beast. I thought the effect would get better the more I saw it but it just looks like CGI face to me. It's like they did all they could to try to keep the actor a part of it but I don't think that was good for the character.

He's not beastly enough. I mean it's good CG, but yeah.
