My boyfriend and I watched this again last night and it still holds up. I continue to believe the ending is the happiest of any movie

I agree. I gave it a 7/10 mostly for the production design and the performances of Dan Stevens, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, and Luke Evans.

It was a very pretty and completely pointless remake.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually like the new adaptation better than the original, in which Belle and the Beast fell in love too fast for my taste. Also, some dialogs in the animated movie were too sloppy.

I love both, for different reasons. I think each version does things better. But I am happy I live in a world where I have both.

I call this one Gaston Goes To (West) Hollywood.

The 1990 version is in my top 5 animated films, so I had no desire to see this, but I rented it and watched today. Man this was good and had plenty of charm. Really surprised me. Fantastic performances and the music was great too. Only change I would have cut is when beast start singing when belle left the castle. That should have been cut. Other than that you weren't going to get a better live action version of the cartoon. 8/10 for me.

My not-quite-2-year-old daughter is obsessed with this movie right now (she was previously obsessed with the animated version, and the Enchanted Christmas "sequel" to a lesser extent). We watch it every day, multiple times during the weekend.

I'm not going to lie. I really liked it when I saw it in the theater with my wife, but now, after seeing it so many times)...

I like it even more.

Luke Evans is just great.

Saw it tonight and really enjoyed it, I thought the expanded story worked well and the new songs fit organically, the way they brought the world to life was beautiful and I felt it captured a lot of the magic of the animated classic.

I though old Watto did a good job as Belle, she's not the most charismatic actress around but she conveyed Belle's gentle kindness perfectly and peppered it with some nice feisty moments, plus her singing voice was pleasent.

Dan Sevens did a great job as Beast, he really got across the various emotions he goes through as things with Belle progress, and I liked his new number. Obi-Wan stole the show among the CGI characters as Luminier, he was great, and the Evans/Gad duo of Gaston/LeFou was hilarious. :D

It was always going to be tough to make a live action version of a beloved and iconic animated classic, but I think they did a really nice job
with a well acted, visually stunning and sonically pleasing adaption. 8.5/10

Same thing happened to me which is a shame as I think it was a movie that definitely benefits from the big screen with those beasts, like Jurassic World.
