The problem with TW though is he looks exactly the same with the glasses on anyway. No hairstyle switch will make it work.

Though in the context of Smallville, it's even more bizarre since essentially everyone has already seen him without the glasses.


So the bottom line is, his hairstyle is ultimately a moot point. It doesn't serve to enhance his disguise at all in this context.

The whole "I look like two different people because of my glasses" thing was lame and ridiculous even in the comics. I am hoping that they do something with Kryptonian technology in the suit or the glasses that actually explains why he can appear this way. They have been pretty good about giving explanations for powers and whatnot so far, so I am sure there will be some reasoning.

well if they say clark is wearing suit martha made it was just regular earth materials. they will have to either go with some magical excuse or use some tecky reason.

It can work.

It just can't work in SV's context, but I'm willing to bet they'll find some outworldly way of explaining it. After all that Jonathan ghost stuff in "Lazurus" and Deus Ex Machina Jor-El, anything is possible in SV. It's more science fantasy than science fiction.

i know it's not that big a deal considering everything in the show, but how did clone lex know that clark loved lois? if he has all the memories of the original lex, he should only know about clarks love for lana. that could have been worked on better. i'm watching it again and after he catches the daily planet he goes straight to the sr suit, almost as if he was ready to put it on right there.

Two things bugged me about the premiere. The Book of Rao, and Lexclone knowing everything about Clark/Lois relationship. So, the Book of Rao conveniently turned itself off after Clark was stabbed, okey dokey. If the Lexclone had all of the original Lex's memories, how would he have known about Clark and Lois' relationship. Unless of course he had been keeping tabs on them from inside of a locked room. It was convenient story telling, not to mention the Lexclone knowing Lois would be in the barn.

Yeah, Smallville has always had convenient story teller, I just wish the writer was tighter. But don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the premiere, the intro was probably one of my favorites in quite some time and just seeing a glimpse of Darkseid was enough to make me pee my pants a little.

One thing I'm unclear on is why Clark is suddenly 'emo' and in a dark place again. Isn't that where he was at the start of Season 9 without Lois? 'Pandora' proved that.

Lois returning seemed to make Clark's life 10x more positive and upbeat. Everything was on an upward trajectory, and now he's back here in 'dark' mode all of a sudden for "Lazarus" struggling with his inner demons.

I'm not sure what exactly provoked all this, outside of TPTB now wanting Clark to struggle and face the ghosts of his past before stepping up.

Reeve was able to pull it off well, not just because of the hair and the glasses, but also because of his demeanor as both characters. The slouch as Clark and the confidence as Superman made a big difference. I love how Annette O'Toole said when he approached her on the set of Superman III for the first time in the costume, she really couldn't tell that it was the same guy she was just acting with as Clark Kent.

Better yet, why didn't Clark go splat when he hit the floor? How did Lois know that that was him falling? And how did she know he was coming when he supersped into the Daily Planet? All questions that you just have to remember to forget when watching.

I wouldn't say Clark is 'emo'. He was last season because he felt like he failed at moving forward and accepting his destiny, thus costing Jimmy his life. He was finally embracing his destiny, but then Lois reappearing distracted him to some extent. At that point, I consider that his progress stopped. He was supposed to say goodbye to Lois and continue with his training, but he didn't. He never truly overcame his fear of loss. He just didn't have to deal with it the same way since Lois came back. Sure he did his thing as the Blur, but he still wasn't fulfilling his destiny as the light of hope. But that's what he realized this time around, and what he wants to change. And like Jonathan said, he's going to prove Jor-El wrong by becoming that light.

At least now he's not blaming himself anymore. After his talk with Jonathan, it seems like he's ready to move forward and make things right.

I think Darkseid looked great, from what we could see. I loved that they showed him in the first episode. t:

When Clark wakes up in the grassy field, I automatically thought he was on The Island from Lost...

But I thought this episode was great, and can't wait to see next week's episode with Deadshot in it.

well who ever was running the lab for lex or lex before he was "killed" could have been feeding them more information. as for the book of rao they did kinda leave it as a plothole. but you can say it was deactived after zod was taken, they could always say it was only an open window for a set period.

This episode was the biggest letdown for me. Everything Clark learned about being a hero in Salvation they took back in this episode, as they do in all season premieres, to drag **** out. No one knows what Jonathan is, Oliver's Storyline was a bore, Chloe is always a bore, Lois did almost nothing of significance, They shoved Lex in our face but no Rosey to be seen, Jor El is back to being a *****e & Clark is once again an emo. I thought thing's would be looking up for the last season but it seems Clark's back to being told how to be Superman.

I kinda like the idea that someone had earlier about Darkseid escaping from the Book of Rao, which could explain why he assembled on the same rooftop as the console, but it sounded like Waller knew about his arrival since last season so i don't know how it would work.

The producers also said we'll see a more solid form by the 3rd episode, so we can all look forward to that.

Casting Superman is a biotch indeed. The new director has his work cut out for him.

I enjoyed this ep, man its so great to have smallville back

The biggest WTF moment for me was Jor-EL being a complete *****e. As I recall in the finale Zod busted up the crystal console to 1)keep Clark from uniting it with the book of rao, and 2) To Prevent Clark from ever talking with Jor-EL again.

So why did the fortress still interact with him? Either Zod messed with it before destroying the console, or its just another loop hole
