Episode 14 - "Distractions" - Discussion Thread 2/5/07

claire is not safe from sylar, i think she might be the regular to die

I wouldn't be surprised if Linderman turned out to be HRG. Probably won't happen, but anything is possible on this show I guess.

Nathan is Claire's father but what's the timeline? Was he married to his current wife at the time?

He still married to his wife but he had a fling a long time ago with claires mom. Interesting, now everybody is connected more and more. Looks like the psychic cop dies.

:woot: Loved the Star Trek shout out, too.

Well, overall I give tonight's episode a 7/10.

I thought they did all the right things for a mid-season episode, and my new favorite character has to be Claude. He just punches Peter out of nowhere really, and I love Eccleston anyways.

Sylar was great tonight, especially the part where he just threw HRG around like he was his b:tch. HRG, however, is going to be the one to eventually kill Sylar I'm afraid...and I can't wait for THAT showdown. ("He DIES!!")

The revelation of Claire's biological father is..."iffy" to me. It's OK in other words. I had guessed that it would be Nathan a week ago anyways, but I just don't think it's the greatest idea for the show...I mean, imagine how pissed Peter will be when he finds out! But, it sure will create some nice drama...

Next week looks like a nice episode, and it almost looks like it's going to be Matt-centric. There seemed to be more of him in the preview than usual, but next week's episode is clearly focused more on Claire meeting Nathan...and the entire "2nd Super Family" getting together. I'll be looking forward to it...

Claude was great and its interesting to see that HRG knows him. Its going to be interesting to see how Claire reacts to all this but she should be happy Peter is her uncle.

Unless I am going crazy, did anyone notice, in next weeks episode preview when Mohinder is at the map in his apartment and pulls away a posted, that on the posted is the name ZACH TAYLOR. Is this Clair's friend? Does he have an ability that has not manifested yet, or am I nuts?

If anyone has a screen capture of that image, that would help.

Thoughts? Snide remarks?

Thought tonight's episode was a good one. I'm really liking Claude, and it's interesting now that he may have a connection with Bennet, after he thought Claude was dead. Also, good to see Peter being able to begin accessing the powers of other's that he's come into contact with. Nathan being Claire's father...was definitely a surprise. Even though there have been some good theories that pointed to the possibility of Nathan. Honestly though, I thought it would've been Eric Roberts' new character, or even Linderman.

Still, should be interesting to see Nathan and Claire's first meeting with one another. Even more the fact that Peter will eventually find out he was actually standing next to his niece that night at the high school. And Claire finding out that he's her uncle. Looking forward to next week, it does look promising. I'm wondering what brings on the Mohinder and Sylar teamup...And what goes on between Jessica and Matt.

I just loved the way Claude all of a sudden punched Peter once Peter found out how to use his abilities. That was awesome :woot:

LOL :woot: I was waiting for someone to hit Peter (I don't know why). I guess thats the only way to stop him from exploding.

Claude was great and its interesting to see that HRG knows him.

yeah, and that was cool to know. I wonder if Claude was a friend or foe to HRG.

Also i was surprised to see that Issac called HRG regarding Peter. I didn't think he wanted to see HRG again. :wow:

Nate is a true player in this show...and has a thing for blondes.

but his wife is not a blond. then again she might been a blond, and after they got married she dyed her black.

Everyone was saying it but i thought it was to obvious to be Nathan.

I kinda have a feeling it was Nathan. He was the only that we knew that usually wears a big ring, a watch, and a long sleeve shirt. Plus, he would be old enough to be Claire's father. I wonder if Meredith knew Nathan's power (probably not since he didn't know till six months ago).

"It's funny how everyone calls him Mr. Bennett. I just call him hey! stop chewing on his shoe " ... - Sandra Bennet

Well the line went something like that. It is interesting nonetheless. In fact I never noticed it til now that he has no first name. :o

It's gotta be a running joke. Like the package Tom Hanks never opened in Castaway. Or the contents of the briefcase in Pulp Fiction.

LOL :woot: I was waiting for someone to hit Peter (I don't know why). I guess thats the only way to stop him from exploding.

"How do you stop an exploding man?"

*punch!*

I was hoping somebody else had noticed that as well. I really like how that whole situation resolved itself. I wonder if George Takei's stint on Heroes is finished now.

I bet Claire's real mother worked for Linderman...hence the moving around.

I was thinking that she probably moved around so that the authorities didn't find out that it was her who started the fire.

"How do you stop an exploding man?"

*punch!*

LOL!

Hmm, now that would make a great avatar, don't you think? GOD I love this show! Claire is Peter's niece? Complicated. I absolutely love the FX on Isaac (and Peter) when he's seeing the future, it's pretty creepy and surreal.

:D:D:D

This episode was so great it oughta hold me over until Lost on Wednesday ;)

Awesome preview but a pretty "meh" epsiode so far :csad:

I gotta disagree there. Some good revelations.

Nathan is Claire's father, making her Peter's niece.

Peter can recall the abilities he's mimicked, but he has to control it so he won't destroy himself. He's essentially what Sylar is without all of the brain hacking.

Speaking of which, the next time those two lock horns should be one heck of a battle.

I'm sure there is going to be a logical explanation that Nathan is Claire's dad. I wonder what Claude's connection is to HRG.

I don't get why Hiro turned down his dadda...with his power as CEO he would be able to obtain the sword like 1-2-3 without getting his hands dirty. Poor Ando. He and Hiro's sis would make a great couple.

Hiro has a different destiny. It is his sister's destiny to run the company, and Hiro's destiny is to help save the world.

Regarding Claude, I believe he was an operative, or worked for Mr. Bennet at one time. Most likely in the same manner The Haitian, Eden, Hana, and Claire's mom have. Just speculation, but it might make sense.

I had a suspsicion that Claire's father would be Nathan, but it I was really betting on it being Linderman.

Nathan is really turning into Tony Stark, sleeping around with every woman he comes in contact with :p

I guess that Eccentric Uncle comment that video kid said to Claire was true.

Looks like Nathan's working himself out to be the Green Arrow/Nightwing man****e of the show lol.

Real interesting episode, my wife who doesn't usually watch enjoyed the Claude character. When he just pushed Peter off the building, she was just "OMG" I was laughing my ass off. i had explained the whole Peter exploding thing and when he got punched we were both laughin.

Great episode!

Favorite Claude line: (Watching Nathans campaign poster) "How can you NOT punch that face everytime you see it?"

Funny because Peter actually did punch Nathan twice during epidsode 2.

holy crap..nathan got it like that..big ol pimp

mmmmm claire is peter's niece..wow just wow
