Cara Delevingne is using her showbiz connections to land role in Star Wars Episode VII

........

We hear shrewd Miss Delevingne, 21, is using her showbiz connections to try to bag herself a role in the new Star Wars film.

“Cara is a huge fan of Star Wars. She became very envious when she heard the unknown actress Daisy Ridley had managed to land a role ”

Her friend Domhnall Gleeson, 31, has already been cast in the movie, and is now encouraging the model to try out too.

Sources told us: “Cara is a huge fan of Star Wars.

“She became very envious when she heard the unknown actress Daisy Ridley had managed to land a role.

“But there are still plenty of parts yet to be cast, as Domnhall has assured her, and she’s desperate for one – no matter how small.”

Serkis:

And Andy was not giving anything away about his role in JJ Abrams' new Star Wars film.

Asked what role he is playing, he teased: "I can definitively say I'm not playing Yoda, I'm playing someone else. I would be shot [if I told you who]."

STAR WARS 7 EXCLUSIVE: ANDY SERKIS TALKS SCRIPT, JJ ABRAMS & MORE
by Edward Gross, 28 June 2014
Andy Serkis exclusively talks Star Wars: Episode VII, JJ Abrams, motional capture and more

.........

“JJ Abrams and I met, and we just had this incredible kind of vibe between us. He said, ‘You’d fit really well in this universe,’ and I said, ‘I think I probably could.’ We’re working very closely, as I say, in two ways: the Imaginarium is providing all of the performance characters, and I myself am playing a character in it.

I am curious as to who these two actors will play but I really think they will play a minor role.

WSJ interview with Andy Serkis published on July 8, 2014:

I’d be derelict in my duty as a blogger if I didn’t ask about “Star Wars.”

(laughs)

Sorry! But have you started working on “Star Wars” yet?

I’ve started working on it in the capacity of a consultant with The Imaginarium.

Imaginarium is consulting on the performance capture?

Yes, we’re the consultants. But I’ve yet to start shooting my role.

When do you expect to?

Soon.

The Independent interview with Andy Serkis published on July 13, 2014:

Is he a mo-cap character in Star Wars? "I…" he begins, "…can't answer that."

Is he human? "I can't answer that."

Is he made of metal? "I can't answer that. I'd love to be able to tell you," he insists, seemingly sincerely. But of course he can't. JJ Abrams' production of Episode VII, currently bunkered at Pinewood Studios outside London, is a black hole of character and plot information. Like the rest of the cast – from Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie to Girls' Adam Driver, from Carrie Fisher to Mark Hamill – Serkis has been sworn to secrecy on pain of Jedi death. But how about another tack…

Did he see Harrison Ford fracture his leg on the door of the Millennium Falcon?

"No, I didn't," he replies with a sympathetic wince. "Poor guy. But apparently he's been – pardon the pun – a real trouper. He wants to get back on set as quickly as possible and get on with it."

Still, every cloud and all that: fanboys and fangirls the world over must surely have been rejoicing that the Millennium Falcon being used on set is sturdy enough to break bone. It's clearly not balsa-wood flimsy nor CGI smoke-and-mirrors. It's not even mo-cap trickery. It's a proper, Rebel-shuttling, hunk of old-school spacecraft.

"Yeah, if you're gonna get hospitalised, that's the way to do it," Serkis laughs. "But that's the one thing that's possibly safe to say: JJ is absolutely, 100 per cent honouring the original three movies. It's filled with the love and sensibility of those films."

Is he related to Boba Fett?

"I can probably safely say that I'm not related to Boba Fett," he smiles.

Damn, the Force is strong with this one.

MTV interview with Andy Serkis published on July 14, 2014:

“My brother, who is five years younger than me, this means more to him than anything I’ve ever done in my entire life,” Serkis said, laughing. “I’m more joyous for him than anything else, in a way.”

Perhaps Serkis’ brother is the man to interrogate when it comes to finding out details about the “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “Lord of the Rings” legend’s work on the film. Because for his part, Serkis’ lips are sealed. He would only confirm that Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are all in top form as they return to their iconic roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, respectively.

“Absolutely,” Serkis told MTV when asked if the original trilogy’s three stars are up to the task of returning for the “Star Wars” sequels, “and that’s all I’m saying before I get enticed into saying more.”

What’s coming up with Star Wars that you can say?

Serkis: Very, very little about Star Wars unfortunately... I mean I’d love to--I'd to fill you in on everything. I mean... I suppose what I can say is...I’m not... I’m not playing a main character, it’s more of a cameo role.

Ok...

Serkis: We're also playing an important part in Star Wars in that the performance capture company--The Imaginarium--that I started two years ago. We’re involved in the consultancy for the picture.

So there’ll be more of that as opposed to the straight forward stuff Lucas did in the last trilogy...

Serkis: ??? performance capture in it yep.

You’ve been cast in the new Star Wars and The Avengers 2. Is your goal to appear in every major franchise going?

Serkis: That was always my ambition by the age of 50 and that’s this year… No, it’s just because my company, the Imaginarium, is involved in the performance capture on both projects, so I’m playing cameo roles.

Deadline - UTA Signs ‘Star Wars’ Lead Daisy Ridley

EXCLUSIVE: Among heated competition, UTA has signed Daisy Ridley. Why would there be heated competition for an actress I’ve never heard of? Well, she is the female lead in the J.J Abrams-directed resuscitation of Star Wars, and the plan is for her carry through to the second and third films that will be directed by Looper helmer Rian Johnson. Ridley was hired for Star Wars: Episode VII after a worldwide casting search.

ComingSoon.net - Exclusive: Domhnall Gleeson Says What He Can About Star Wars: Episode VII

.........

ComingSoon.net: You and I are both aware of the secrecy behind a project like "Star Wars: Episode VII".
Domnhall Gleeson: Yeah.

CS: I'm not going to ask you questions that will disrespect the NDA that you signed but will hopefully still give us insight into the film: How is the food on the "Star Wars" set?
Gleeson: Excellent. Excellent food. Really really good. You can go really healthy and it'll still be tasty.

CS: What's an example of a dish?
Gleeson: Something like quinoa with chicken and stuff, but your whole meal will only be 500 calories, but it'll be really tasty and there won't be any crazy sauce or anything like that but it's just really well seasoned and delicious.

CS: Good craft service?
Gleeson: Is craft service the thing you go to for snacks and stuff? I don't really do snacks, but I've seen people walking around with ice creams.

CS: Cornettos?
Gleeson: Maybe, I don't know what that is.

CS: Does everyone on set wear special shin guards now?
Gleeson: Shin guards?

CS: Because of what happened to Harrison?
Gleeson: (laughs) No comment. When you walk from your trailer to the set -you're in Pinewood Studios- you have to put on a big, black cloak thing to cover all of your clothes, like full length, 'cause they're worried about people seeing costumes and stuff. It's crazy.

CS: So far it's worked pretty well.
Gleeson: There's a guy in that window out there with a sniper rifle trained on you and another one that's trained on me right now and they can hear every word we're saying, and if you ask a question that disrespects the NDA there's just going to be a *poof*.

CS: The pink mist.
Gleeson: Exactly.

The Huffington Post - Domhnall Gleeson Explains The Extremely Extensive 'Star Wars' Gag Order

............

"I get sick in my mouth every time someone brings up 'Star Wars.' I'm so nervous I'm going to give something away. I just get a faraway look in my eyes and try to remain calm," Gleeson told host Ricky Camilleri with a laugh. "You sign a massive, big, long contract thing ... and then they send you a one-page thing that says, 'Here is what you're allowed to talk about.' And then there's just a big empty page. It says you're allowed to say you're excited to be in the movie. That's it."

Entertainment Weekly - A galaxy faraway, so close: Adam Driver on the intimacy of 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

Is there a sense of wonder that comes with being on that set? J.J. has shown us that there are actual spaceships there, not just green screen visual effects.
Driver: Oh yeah. The thing about Star Wars that’s so good—sure there’s this huge [canvas]. It’s space, it’s a long time ago in a galaxy far away. That’s set up immediately. But in the midst of all those things, what has made those movies last so long is that they’re all grounded, which is something that is not so far off from every movie with huge universal themes of siblings and parents and betrayal and trust. That’s so generic and obvious, but it’s hard to balance those things.

That’s what Star Wars comes down to.
Driver: When you break all of those things down, really it’s just because someone wasn’t loved enough or felt betrayed. That’s what makes those movies so universal. I think they can get in your mind in big and sweeping ways.

What did you love about the earlier Star Wars films?
Driver: I always think back to the original movies and to those quieter moments where Luke is out in A New Hope, and there are the two suns setting, and it’s just such a quiet moment. It is the equivalent, basically, of a farm boy dying to get out of his small town and do something bigger. It’s those kinds of universal themes that ground this whole thing in space.

George Lucas put a lot about fatherhood into that original trilogy. It turns out his own dad owned an office supply store, built it from the ground up, and wanted his son to, basically, “join me and together we will rule the office supply galaxy.” We don’t often see that kind of intimacy in large-scale Hollywood sci-fi epics.
Driver: Friendship, I feel, is something that maybe isn’t investigated as much—or maybe I’m not watching those movies. It was such a huge part of the original three. “I’m going to go save my friend.” Everyone was going to go bail their friends out. “I can’t do this because my friends, everything is at stake because of my friends. I gotta go back. … Yoda, I gotta leave, whatever… I gotta leave.” [Laughs]

Lara Croft, eat your heart out (and your apple).

Wonder if she'll sound like that in the movie, though.

Her voice is so dreamy. :atp:

I'd expect a American accent, especially if she is a Solo/Skywalker.
