No word on that. There are rumors of new features such as cross game chat but thats just a rumor. No one will know for certain until Sony actually says something

No not quite. Basically it would be the ability to voice chat with someone thats playing a different game than you currently are playing. I dont really care for this but quite a few people have been clamoring for it

That pretty much is XBOX Live Party Chat. You could be playing a game that other person could be watching a movie or show & still talk. XBOX Live Party Chat & Private Chat does exactly that

Well cross-game-text chat already exists, don't see why they can't put this feature in.

Its an underrated feature that I use and love. It comes in very helpful. From my underfstanding, its a bandwith issue, which is why the idea has been entertained as a PS+ feature and not something basic with the free service

If you only want specific people in a chat on XBOX Live you can either kick people that join that you don't like or start a private party chat. It is all of the same thing

well if they were rebuilding it from the ground up as originally rumored that thing would take some time, much longer than the week many thought unfortunately. They have to cover several regions across the world and service dozens of millions of accounts. They need to test this thing extensively before they release it to the public. The last thing they could do is put it back up prematurely and miss a minor flaw, one that can again be exploited by hackers. It sucks and I want my PSN back already but if they have to do whatever is necesary to ensure that something like this doesnt happen again, then I say go for it.

People can come down on Sony but they arent taking this thing likely and its not like they havent suffered and will continue to suffer bc of it. They've lost millions already on this already. Its nearly unheard of of a company completely shutting down their store for such an extended period of time when there's been a data breach. Most keep going. Plus they are facing the wrath of the industry, gamers and government entities. It sucks to be them right now bc even when the PSN goes back up, they will feel the heat for months to come

I dont think I can wait that long. This is one giant massive headache between no online play and having to deal with xbots Im running out of advil.

yep thats pretty much what I think it is. Its not a simple patch up where the errors were. They are completely redoing it from the ground up. Man that sucks though but hopefully it will be better. They definetly are going to have to update that Rewards program if that May 31st date is a firm one

We managed when Online gaming wasn't around, we can manage it now too.

At least we can still play games. Well, unless you happen to have PSN titles that requires online connection.... but anyway, it's better than the RROD. The console itself is fine and I don't have to buy a new one or send it in for repairs and be consoleless for several weeks.

That's true, but to not be 100% functional is something else.

One of the rumors I've heard from GameInformer, is that we might need to re-register our PSN ID's. It's looking more and more like PSN isn't being fixed, but rebuilt. It should be a complete overhaul, and I think it'll need to look it too. If when PSN comes back, it should look and feel different. That'll atleast send the message to people that things have indeed changed.

And...this is why Single-Player games are, and always will be, needed. If Single-Players ever died off, the industry could basically die with it whenever we've got downtime. Imagine if we had multiplayer-only focused games...we'd be screwed. Completely, and entirely. It's why I'll always prefer a good single player game over a great multiplayer game, anyday.

Might be a wakeup call for PSN titles that require you be singed in to play them. Bionic Commando 2, for example.

Just thought I'd let people know if they don't already, Netflix still works. You just gotta attempt to sign in a couple of times and it will run anyway. I don't know, might be the same way for the PSN titles as well. Give it a shot.
