Sony is definitely going to get embarrassed/laughed/booed&pointed at at E3!,Even IF they were to get back online today E3 will be a bad time for them.

Will be even way worse IF they do get back online then get attacked yet again by hackers and PSN still end up being down during E3!

Spike tends to cover e3, last year they had Nintendo's conference exclusive.

Does any other channel aside from G4 show the E3 Conferences ? Since DirectTV dropped it I wont be able to watch them unless I stream it. I guess I could watch the first 10 minutes or so online of the Sony Conference to hear all of the booing & what not

No one's going to boo. It's a room packed full of journalists for god sakes, professionals and hopeful professionals. They have a job to do, they're not a sports crowd.

I thought some people from the GA were allowed into E3!?

Removing backwards compatibility and otherOS feature was one of the most stupid things they've ever done.

Y'know, next to not doing anything about an obsolete piece of software.

I don't care about the otherOS thing as I will never use it BUT, I do hope that someday, they do add PS2 compatibility in an update.

well that was initially done to bring down the price of the PS3, which it did. People complained about the pricy 500-700 system but removing components helped make it more affordable. Removing BC from the PS3 when they did wasnt a stupid decision; it was kinda one of the thigns they needed to do.

The Xbox 360 costs around the same and still has backwards compatibility. Was it a hardware feature or software? It can't be a hardware one because whenever I put a PS2 disc in my PS3 slim, it acknowledges it as a PS2 disc... -.-

I don't think everyone there are professionals, though. Wasn't that something that lasted for two years or so, then they opened it back up the the general population? I've heard stammers of cheers and jeers from crowds at E3 in the past, though. If they'll cheer, I would imagine they'd boo, as well.

and the 360's BC is incomplete and MS stopped bothering to update it after about 2 years or so. You really cant compare the costs of the two systems as the PS3 launched about $200 more than the 360. It needed to take more drastic measures to reduce the price, measures which were never an issue for the 360

The PS3 backward compatibility for PS2 games in the original systems was pure hardware as it contained the Emotion Engine and Graphic Synthesizer GPU of of PS2 in it. The first 80gbs removed the emotion engine and the BC composed of partly software and hardware. The PS3's lost any BC capabilities when the GPU was removed

Or they'll do what they did at the Sony panel when they revealed the price of the Move, which for the life of me I can't find a video of anymore.

Ah, so hardware too. Thanks for that dude. :)

It's kind of pathetic that this has gone on longer than the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Which was?

The announced that the wand for the Move would be 30 or 40 dollars and everyone cheered. Then they announced that the other part of the controller would be the same price and there was dead silence.

E3 is not open to the public:

No, E3 Expo is not open to the general public. E3 Expo is a trade event and only professionals from the industry will be allowed to attend. Individuals who are not able to document their direct and current professional affiliation to the interactive entertainment industry are not qualified to attend E3 Expo. All E3 Expo attendees are required to show government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) upon request.

Edit: Pretty interesting read at Bitmob.

Sony did stretch the truth though. I assume the blogs that post that they lied just want to see Sony fail?

That's stretching the truth there, IMHO.

Some of the headlines have been hilarious and eye roll inducing. It's not about seeing Sony fail though. It's about getting hits, which brings in more advertisers, which brings in more money.

I want to see Sony climb out of this... but regardless of what's true and what's not... people already made up their mind about them. I think this hurt them more than I expected it to, if I'm being honest.

I hope when PSN comes back online that it's completely different that what it was. Whole new interface/setup, the works.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who has the privilege to sit down at the Sony conference at E3. For me, as an aspiring game journo, it's a dream come true. I'm not happy with Sony at the moment but no way in hell would I risk my career on yelling out like a hooligan at the most watched event in the industry.

I realise not everyone's in the same boat but I'd be very surprised to hear an overwhelming boo at the conference, and it would be disgraceful for any unbiased "journalist" to do so.

Was there booing when Sony said $599? For Wii Music? Skiiiiittles?

You can't compare those to this. Sony needed it to be $600, Wii Music was just a bad game. This outage is caused by Sony's own negligence and has cost people their personal information.

I cannot remember any of the big 3 getting booed at E3, ever. Stunned silence yes, but not booing. I expect the same professionalism this year.

IGN was asked this same question and the guys did do the podcast say they would never boo bc they are the press and doing so would be a poor reflection on the quality of the site/company. It also wouldnt look good in terms of wanting future news/previews/info from Sony to unnecesarily harm a relationship by publicily humilating them during the show. This is probably why I dont expect to hear many boos either

Exactly!

Of course, Colin Moriarty is a very well-educated individual, so perhaps he won't represent the entire room. Beyond! :)

when it comes back up will the interface be different? maybe with more features?
